Well that is subjective................ Standard and boost machines function in different ways. The boost is for having coil elevated over tall grass........... once it is used at ground level it kinda oversaturates and defeats the depth gain you would expect...
So you may get a small amount of extra depth in some areas..you may not in other areas depending on minerals.............. It functions sorta like the old surface elimination in boost mode.. Not exactly mind you but in that realm picks up signals past a certain point in the ground.......... A very nice feature on the T2.... Super charges the coil allowing return signals from targets in the ground.. For all I know it may be more gain added. I don't think F/T has ever shared exactly what the technology is..........

After using the boost mode, I don't think I'd be happy without having it. The boost mode gives me better ID numbers and I don't have to be so precise with my coil swings, close is good enough for the boost mode I can wave the coil a half a foot off the ground and still bang moderately deep coins.
