Standing Lady !

Well, thanks to labradorbob`s sanborns maps, I uncovered this sweet thang today ! The ground is terribly dry right now in central Texas, but this beaut was only four inches deep next to an old sidewalk. A 1917 Standing Liberty quarter, the first I have found in many years. Of course I have been inactive for a long time ,too, until I got the SE Pro less than a month ago. This is silver 10 ! Only one other find today , a 24 wheatie. As I saiid the ground is dry dry and I feel that when it gets wet again, the deepies will start singing at this old house site. HH

Congrats Randy ! That is one sweet coin. What mint is it and what variety ? Stars under the eagle or not determines the variety.

No mint mark, so must be philly, 3 stars under the eagle, the coins is in pretty good shape. Fair amount of detail on the eagle feathers. The only other one I found was a 1916 no date, that I was able to date with the design. The breast is bare also. I can`t wait till i can get a cam that will take sharp pics ! HH

I stand corrected, the breast can`t be bare if there are 3 stars under the eagle, and I suppose my other one could be a 1917, beacuse there are no stars on that one. But, man, that chain mail is hard to see, sure looks bare !

If there are stars under the eagle it is definately not bare-breasted..

Very nice find...congrats !

Thanks, Chuck , Dave and Surfman !
