The NBC Today Show will be highlighting strange and usual hobbies. Yes, you guessed it. Metal detecting!

I'm on the east coast and the Today Show runs between 7am and 9am. Hope to see it before I head to the beach. Low tide is just after 12 noon. --Jerry

I couldn't cut and paste the actual video but go to this website: http://today.msnbc.msn.com . you'll see the link on the left. HH Don

We really don't need anymore people out there finding gold with detectors. It was a good video to discourage people from running out and buying a detector thinking they are going to get rich quick!

i guess the one don't remember wen he started metal detecting or i guess he was a master from the get go!! ( calling others idiots)
is not the way to win the respect of the metal detecting community and other peers( right on national TV ! not everyone is a beach hunter. some like coin hunting (how is the idiot know !)

:detecting::minelab::garrett::clapping:we just keep on going tho..

It was on LAST Monday the 14th.

I watched the whole segement. First of all, I did not like our passion being classified as an "ODD" hobby. I guess golf is not odd.....hitting a little ball around a field, paying $50-100 per round and having nothing to show for it at the end of the day the normal hobby. NOT! Matt Lauer was his typical consecending ultra liberal self looking down his nose at us odd types. When they found one stinking nickel Matt and Meridith Vierira rolled in the sand wrestling for it. I cannot think how rolling in the sand with a blonde is slightly involved with our hobby. This was a typical liberal NBC put down of a great hobby. They laughed at us the whole time!

Matt Lauer :biteme:
