Starting to like the Omega

Went to the park yesterday with 8000 , finding the usual clad coinage etc. What surprised me was that the id was pretty accurate. If it said it was a penney , it was. But not only that, it was accurately iding at depth. In other words zink at 8" , that's what it was., I was using the 11" dd. settings were sensitvity at 60, ground balance 50, 52. 3 tone. It was hitting the nickels pretty good too. Found a junk ring also. Will need to take it out more often to learn it better. I usually use a tesoro sidewinder because of its simple set up. Turn on and go with auto grand balance and pinpoint. Not very deep though ,but fun to use.

Good now turn the sens up all the way and you will find deep silver, if it gets chatty just take the knob on the right side and turn it up all the way and it will be quiet and cherry pick silver.HH:detecting:

With a Ground Phase reading of 50-52, it tells me you've got a lot better set of ground conditions to hunt in than I do. :( "Thank You" for sharing your settings and coil in use. It heps us all to get a better idea of the Omega's performance. The more you use it the more it can grow on you, to be sure. :)

There's a big difference between overall performance of the Omega and Tesoro Sidewinder, and part of that is due to the Omega providing us with Ground Grab and manual GB at the press of a touch-pad to attain perk performance. The Sidewinder, however, does NOT have "auto ground balance." It is a factory (or user-adjusted) Pre-Set Ground Balance, and if set too wrong, or too much Discrimination used, and you can cut in on detection/performance of larger silver coins such as halves and dollars.

An 'OK detector, to be sure, but I think the Omega and Gamma are two of the better values on the market today.

I nabbed a junk ring today, but also a small, girl's 14K gold ring that locked on a #49 with a couple of flickers to #48. I really like the VDI numbers of the Omega and Gamma and how they hold a fairly tight reading on most "good" targets. I seldom run my Sensitivity close to '60' preferring to keep it as high as possible. Most of the time I am at '99' and only reduce it if I really need to because of too much nearby interference. Run it hot and learn to listen to a little 'noise' for better depth and target response.
