Static or Motion--F75 standard

New member
Newbie question.........It is my understanding that the Static All Metal Mode had a deeper detection strength than the Motion All Metal Mode, is that correct?

I was never able to determine for sure that to be the case. I never liked the tones, however, of static a m and preferred motion or de. HH jim tn

Hey Roland. I believe you are correct- static AM is deeper, but meant for larger, deeper targets. Doesn't sound ideal for coins or jewelry. Motion AM is supposed to be more sensitive than Disc. I played around with Motion AM this afternoon and was impressed with the depth. Anybody else hunt in Motion AM?

Yeah, me. That is what I have been using since moving from the default setting.

Motion AM, Threshold about +1, Sensitivity 80 to 95 (no problems, as yet, with EMI, ground mineralization or internal circuitry noise), GB usually sits about 60 to 65 where I have been. I am still looking for a 'good' place to hunt......a good friend of mine's mother-in-law has some 40+ acres in the country that used to have two very old houses on it. We plan to hit them next week!!

I have spoke with a couple of folks on forums reguarding the Static AM mode. There was a fellow that told me that Static Mode is killer for finding Deep Civil War Relics, Bullets, Buttons, Buckles ETC. I played with it a couple of times. Not enough to really give you a positive conclusion on the answers above. I usually use Discrim in the sites I hunt. I use all metal after I get all the trash out of the site.
