Got out yesterday to a front yard of extended family members and came away with a hand full of clad , 5 wheaties (misplaced one before the photos lol ) all from the 40s and 50s, a 1964 dogs vaccination tag and a 1944 silver 20 centavo US/Philippines coin ( I know some of the stuff I find right hahaha) also found two pieces of a sterling silver spoon handle that I suspect lost the fight with a lawn mower, ended up with 26g of silver for the day.

I tell you what I got pretty damn excited when I saw silver with a standing figure showing through the dirt , then next I saw the "twenty cent" ( the "avos" was covered by dirt) and found myself flipping the coin over to see " United States of America 1944" and was at a loss for why I never heard of our war era twenty cent piece. Well a little cleaning and some help from Google cleared up the confusion.

So while not my first silver quarter , it is getting closer heh. This coin is about the size of a nickel and .750 silver content.

Love this hobby, Stay safe out there guys,

Nice finds. Neat twenty centavos. I dug one on a Military housing site, too. Pretty pieces of silver. HH jim tn

Yeah Jim its a sweet coin, you can imagine my excitement when I saw the walking figure on the coin lol.
This make my second US minted silver WWII era foreign coin, first was a Australian 3 pence piece last year.
