Stock 10.5 vrs Sunray X8

In my mind I would either have to run around detecting with one on and find a target.....then change coils and try it again.......or run around with 2 detectors one coil on and one on the other.....not feasable...or have a bud go with me and do the sweep after each other......but still not reasable.......not many people want to experiment when there are coins to find......but it has to be the real deal in the ground and not airtested......old test gardens may be ok but still the real deal will only convince me......I have no answers for you I just want to practice my typing........

I dont use the stock 10.5 coil much due to its weight. But I do use the sunray 8" coil and get very good depth with it.I used the original 8" for many years(wore it out) and when I recieved my new one I found it to be a lot `hotter`than the original one.Its great in trashy areas and if thats what you work in youll be happy with the sunray 8.Ralph

I use the SR X8 almost all the time now due to weight. I use to use the stock coil exclusively so I have a pretty good feel for both coils. The deepest wheat cent I dug with the standard coil (XS) was down at 11". Now, I am talking just a tiny peep of a signal - but repeatable. With the X8 I cannot remember an actual deepest wheat cent but my guess is in the 9" range (with the same kind of tiny peep signal). I did dig a real nice Canadian Large Cent at about 10" with the X8. That was probably my deepest keeper with that coil. That was a couple years ago and a great day. I have attached the finds pic. The half came from some construction in a town the IHs and LC were from an old country school house site (heavily hunted). The weight and separation of targets with the X8 is hard to beat.

Hope this helps. HH - BF

The Indians and the Large Cent are in great shape! Nice looking Half Dollar also. May your success carry on into the New Year! Good Luck and HH in 2008!:detecting:
