Looks real nice the only thing I would like to see is a wider hilt like the one on the Lesche, since I have arthritis in my hand the wider hilt allows me to use my left hand on it and generate more force.

Agreed a little larger hilt and is it tempered??/ What is the Rockwell hardness???

The complete tool is stainless. The blade is 4120 and has NOT been heat treated yet. Right now the RC on this blade is 28 which is soft for digging. Most good knife blades are an RC of 58 to 62. The 41xx series of steel are known for their capabilities to be case hardened so this should make a very good blade when treated.

A couple of you stated the Hilt needed to be larger. The Hilt of a sword includes the pommel, handle and the guard, I assume your talking about the guard could be wider to the left and right of the handle. It is wide enough to grip over the top of blade.

Thanks for the comments and your personal ideas/preferences

Yes you are correct the guard is what I meant are you going to make this for commercial sale and if so will it be a harder alloy?

All this blade needs is to be hardened to the low to mid 50's on the RC scale. We looked at making some from A2 or D2 steel but they would still need to be heat treated which we can do easily.

Just a thought...add 3-4 inches to the handle and bend it at roughly 45 degrees for a more ergonomic feel while prying. This may take some pressure off your wrist. I could be all wrong. I am no engineer!
Looks good,
