Straight shaft V3i

Rob (IL)

New member
I wanted a straight shaft for my V so here it is.[attachment 178425 StraightShaft.jpg] Rob

Looks good Rob! Is that a tall man rod on there without the s rod?

No Magic, I had so many regular lower rods I made the middle rod longer. I'm short enough I didn't need to do that either. I never checked if they had a tall man middle rod for the M6. Rob

Like Magic said, it does look good Rob. Have you had enough time to tell if you like the feel of the straight shaft better than the s rod? If yes, what are the advantages? Thanks Bob

I really haven't found much difference. I think if you had to move the the coil through tall grass or anywhere you have drag on the coil then you would notice a difference ( less torque). Notice the guys who drag there coil though water use a straight shaft. I won't mention a name but someone in the industry said they thought the S rod made the detectors more balanced. This has not proved to be the case and they may eliminate them in the future. I just liked the way it looked. Rob

Thanks for the tip Rob. What you said about a straight shaft creating less torque makes sense. I plan to try a straight shaft soon. Am always looking for ways to reduce the physical strains of detecting ... have back and shoulder problems. Getting older ain't for sissies. Bob

I'm already there.
