Strange Days Indeed :detecting:

Got out to GGP yesterday to hunt with a buddy, and in between downpours, we managed to do a little detecting. Found a little ivy scrape and worked it over. I started finding foreign coins, not particularly old, but scattered all over the place and at different depths  Then I found a silver dime, and I though I saw a wreath on the back, so I used my portable coin washer and spit out a silver rosie  Also found the red marble there.

Another BIG downpour started so we headed for the car, as soon as we got to the car, it stopped, and the sun came out. We decided to try another area near the beach. Didn't find too much there, so we tried a little meadow with a couple of huge trees that was off the beaten path, and didn't find much of anything there either so we headed to the woods on the east side. Found a few things here, including a creepy little statue - it has a horned devil riding a pig holding a little girl - WTH  I found a little Asian god statue last year buried at the base of a redwood tree, and thought this was a similar thing until I cleaned it up. I shot them next to each other to see the size difference. In this same area I found the silver axe pendant and another marble.

Moved to another spot close to big rec and found this old toy Derringer. I don't know it's age, but it's in great shape and it looks to be pretty old IMHO. It has a "C" on each side of the handle, anyone know anything about it? Also found an old button nearby.

My hunting partner decided to call it a day and took off, so I headed back to the ivy scrape. Found more foreign coins and a token from Florida, not sure why there were so many foreign coin in this one area  Also found a mercury dime there. I really thought I would find some older coins there, as I had found a barber dime not 5 feet away from the ivy scrape before, but two silvers from pounded to death GGP in one day isn't bad IMHO

That has to be the funniest/ creepy thing I have read on here yet! Laughed my ars off until I saw the pic. That thing is unsettling! The other stuff is cool for sure.

Very cool find..
The statue is creepy but a very cool find and will make for a weird little conversation piece to display.
I would put it on the biggest gold chain i could find and wear it every time a salesperson knocks on the door. After you open the door dont say a word and just stair at them while stroking the creepy little statue around your neck. lol

What is so creepy about goatman riding side-saddle on a smilin pig? Legend has it that whoever finds such a statue, will find gold in 100 measures, along a line, in the direction of the talismans hand. I sure hope that you remember which way it was pointing when you dug it up.

Very nice finds.
Man I need to go relic hunting, all this school yard hunting has made me lazy.

Nice finds!
Where did you hear this legend? Hope it is true for Cal and he can remember which way it was pointing.
Just guessing but the "C" on the toy gun may mean that it is a cap gun. May make it easier for someone to not mistake it for the real thing! Just guessing!
