strange favor to ask, it's a long shot...

Guys --

I have an F70, with 10" stock coil, and then I added a 5" DD coil to my arsenal, for hunting trash. I'm not totally pleased with the target ID at depth, in my iron oxide-polluted soil (this machine, in this type of soil, tends to read deeper coins as "iron" -- low grunts, and VDI is very consistently around 13 in my test garden. Meanwhile, my Gold Bug Pro, running with its 11" DD coil, IDs the same deep coins in my garden just fine. I'm wondering if the big DD coil is key, or if it's just the Gold Bug Pro's ability, itself, that makes the difference.

Now, since I am pleased with the overall depth and performance of my 10" stock coil, and since I have the small 5" DD for target separation/working in trash, there's really no reason for me to spend $200 on an 11" DD and lower rod -- UNLESS this coil will SUBSTANTIALLY improve my VDI with depth, in my soil. Point is, I don't want to spend that kind of cash, until I can test one, in my soil, and see how much of an improvement (if any) the coil will give me.

So, here's my favor I want to ask. Is there ANYONE who has an F70/75 11" DD coil they are willing to do without for approximately one week, and would trust me with it? If you ship it to me, I will give it a quick run through my test garden only, and then ship it back to you the next day. I'll of course pay postage to ship it back, and will include cash in the box to cover what it cost you to ship it to me. I know, this is a long-shot, crazy request, but I REALLY don't want to buy ANOTHER coil, unless it really improves my VDI at depth substantially. And the only way to know is to test it out.

Thanks!

Steve

Steve,
You can use my F75 coil but you gotta come get it and bring it back. Hows that for easy? Ill Pm you the details.

Now that's a real first class detector dealer.

When I need new detector I know where go.

WOW Bart ! Whats next ? Payment plans for those that buy from you as well ?

Good for you Bart my dealer here in Mi. has the same attitude, thats why I have bought 3 detectors, and all of my equipment from him:thumbup: Keep us posted sqoss66,I seem to have a simialer prob with my F75 falsing on deep targets, but only in bp proccess(11 in. dd).....hh rick in mi.

Hey Rick --

I just picked up the 11" DD today, will test it in the garden tomorrow, and hunt a bit with it Thursday before giving it back to Bart. Thanks Bart!

By the way, Rick, you say you also have the "good stuff reading as iron, at depth" issue, but ONLY in boost process. Do I take that to mean your F75 IDs coins well, at depth, in standard mode?

I'll report back about what I find with the 11" DD over the next couple of days.

Steve

Yes I have no probs in de procc.wich I hunt in mostly, and my F75 is hot on coins with depth, but this year I am trying to hunt mostly in bp to see if I can get a little deeper.Lets just say I hear more in bp then in standard mode,it could be the machine is just 'seeing' more and I need to adjust to it,but I have dug some iffy high tones only to discover small peices of iron..hh rick in mi.

and thats why it handles ID's better at depth in your poor soil. I see similar effects here at a buddys site where the ground is a little nasty. Push comes to shove....in ordinary soil the stock concentric should ID better than the 11" DD on the F70..........but in nasty soil it might be a different story. DD's tend to handle bad soil better than concentrics. I'm curious how you make out. Sweep speed requirements are different with the 70 as opposed to the GB too. As you making crisp fast sweeps when your trying to ID??

Yeah, NE Digger, I'm a pretty fast sweeper...but I try all different speeds in my garden to see what works best. You may be right about the soil, and the GB Pro handling bad soil better.

I tried out the 11" DD, and it did a better job on the IDs. Not as good as the GB Pro, but better. It gave decent to good IDs on my 6" coins, and at least gave a mix of iron VDIs/tones and high VDIs/tones on my 8" and some 10" coins. The deepest coins, though, were still hitting mainly low tones/low VDI. Meanwhile, the 5" DD was just as bad, if not worse, than the 10". Maybe I should sell the 5" and buy the 11"?
