Strange find form a small town park in Illinois!! After digging the usual clad and wheat's I received a high conductive hit.. I retrieved the target which I thought was scrap brass or copper.. On the way to my trash pocket I noticed a design and thought "I'll clean it just to see what it is".. Went on hunting and found a couple of Indians which make 16 this year.. Well I was shocked to say the least!! Possibly roman and dates from 100BC to 200AD.. I figure dropped by a kid on the way to show and tell.. Just the same as the ancient Japanese and Chinese coins I've found here..

Wow good thing you didn't throw it away.
For your sake I hope it is the real deal..... but I do know at Christian bookstores they sell replicas of old coins from ancient Bible days. Years ago my boys showed me one they had planted in our yard and " found" with the detector...... I about had a heart attack .... then I wondered why they were rolling on the floor, laughing their heads off.
I still get ribbed about that once in a while......
