street silver

I found this silver Washington while I was at work. Was crossing the street and as I approached the curb on the other side, I saw a coin laying in the gutter. As I got closer I could see that it was a quarter. But it seemed a little different than an ordinary quarter, it was shiny and had that certain look to it, a silvery look. She is worn and has an indentation on it, but silver is silver, it's mine !

Kinda ironic in some ways. I work the afternoon shift and I was out detecting for an hour before work. Only found clad and the usual can slaw, square tabs, etc. So I go to work and find silver. I'll take 'em any way I can find them.

I think this quarter came from our Gym at the college I work for. They are remodeling the locker rooms and doing quite a bit of demolition. The Gym was built in 1949, so the time period seems about right.

Good luck, have fun.
