I went out this morning for the first time ever metal detecting. My new E-Trac arrived Thursday and I read the manual twice and about 60 pages of Andy's book. After about 3 hours I had accumulated 4 - 22cal. casings, 1 - 9mm casing, 1 - 30-30 casing 1 - 9mm bullet, 4 pull taps, 1 screw top, 1 metal Calvin Cline button, 4 Lincoln's, 1 1949 wheat, 2 clad dimes, 3 clad quarters, a 1904 Indian Head and a heart shaped silver locket with mother of pearl.

I had a great time along a river next to a mountain on private property of woods and mowed fields . The site is used for company picnics, weddings and party's and use to be a golf course in the 20's until it flooded out 3 times.

For the first time out I used the factory coin setting and learned fast what a pull tap sounds and looks like and not so fast on 22 shells. Can it be this easy? This sounds like a lot of stuff for the first time. Is it?

Any way thanks for all your help with my previous questions and info on the site, it really helped.

Happy hunting, I'm going out tomorrow morning. Dan

good going. If someone yells FIRE at that site you need to hit the deck.

Dan, Sounds like you are doing real well with your new E Trac. I would say you were definetly sucessful! You will be finding silver soon.

Yep, from time to time you'll still pull out the .22 casings (depending on their orientation) looking for nickels. Pull tabs too will sometimes read nickel. You just get used to it and dig 'em anyway. I'd say you did extremely well finding the wheat and IH!!! The larger caliber casings will give that IH "ring" to it also. Congratulations. Looking forward to hearing/seeing some more of your finds!!
