Summer digs

It was like summer today - sweatin a lot. Dug 159 coins, bunch of junk jewelry, a pocket knife and one silver ring.

The ring is stamped 925 and it looks like tourmalene stone. The other things are not precious but what would a hunt be without a Skecher's Girl heart or two. The angel pendant says "Strength" on the back.

Glad to say my old 65 year old body held up for the 5 hours I was swinging & digging. Since my heart op I am always wary of things - but no problems so far. Hope you all get out soon, steve in so az

I was thinking you do a lot of playgrounds don't you. Would you mind sharing with us your tactics,strategies, practical tips and anything else you do? I see all that land and have no idea how to attack it. It frustrating to me. Do you just do a certain area or do you do a methodical inch by inch search.? Are there special places you look first.

Oh yea! Guess what my wife is doing now a days? Nope! She is taking the Masters gardener program. She has been saying for years she wanted to take it. So now she is.

First, congrats to your wife for taking the MG program. My wife loves it and is over there as much as I am out detecting!

I do hunt the tot lots mainly - the play areas with the metal structures with sand or chip bark around. I keep all of them in a book and go regularly to them. I'll say right off that a lot of my luck is due to the fact that we have over 300 in the area. These are schools and parks.

I do the main area around & under the play things. If it looks good I do it all, working paths till I cover it. These are the play areas, not the whole park. A couple guys here specialize in the fields & such outside the play area and they do quite well. I keep my disc low, almost to the bottom, and dig a lot of junk. Most days I dig as much junk as I do coins. Almost every week I read on the net "It said tin foil or pull tabs but I dug it anyway & it was a gold ring". On the Friendly Forum just this week a guy did this and got a platinum ring with diamonds. I have a sounds only machine.

So basically, we have over 1 million people here to lose things and I dig most signals. Good luck, Steve
