Sun Ray X-1 Probe

Received my new Sun Ray X-1 Probe in the mail yesterday (Friday) and mounted it as soon as I got it home. Did some bench tests with it but wasn't able to get it out into the field till this afternoon (Saturday).

Chuck at S&W Shooters Supply where we purchased our E-trac told us the machine would drive us nuts on small and shallow targets. We also found if you had multiple coin targets (I'll take 5 quarters out of one hole any day) real shallow and very close together it was really hard to separate and locate them all . It ate up just to much time.

The Sun Ray Probe sure makes life a lot simpler and much less time consuming :clapping:. The wife my # 1 digger (knees don't bend like they used to) purchased it for my Christmas present. (I think she got herself a early Christmas gift.) Either way we are both really pleased with it.

I never had much use for the pin pointers up till now but I would recommend this pin pointer to any one no matter what make of metal detector they own. These newer machine are just to sensitive to be without one these days.

My next purchase will be the Sun Ray 5" Double D search coil. I've got some trash filled parks I want to work with that loop. Wife says maybe for my birthday. Nice to me is'nt she?

I bought one last week and tried it out yesterday morning. I hunted for about 5 minutes before I realized that I had forgot to throw the switch to engage the coil. The X-1 is great and I will leave the ProPointer in the truck from now on. I just have to remember to switch back to the coil after pinpointing.

Know what you mean, had the same problem first time out with mine. Hunted about ten feet one time before I realized that machine was being to quite, checked the control box switch and went back and re hunted that ten feet again.Like any new gadget takes some getting used to, but I love the X-1.

Yep - after forgetting to do that many, many times - it is now a habit to flip the switch back to coil mode before I snap the probe back onto the shaft...
