SUNDAY SCHOOL Question

7centsworth

Well-known member
I have a question I have someone that goes to church say that their daughter did not need to go to sunday school because they had sunday school at home. Which I think that is where it should start, they go to sunday school but there daughter always helps somewhere . They will not let her go I guess they are afraid she might here someone elses views . I told my wife if only me my wife daughter and neice had church at our house all the time we would kind of be like a cult. Reason being we would only believe what each other believed . When I go to church or sunday school our some other churches revival I might hear a message I have read 20 times , but when they teach or preach it , it moves me I hear something in it I never read before ,the way they explained it that I never got on my own. I think we should all go to church because we christians are a body in CHRIST and a body does not function well without part of its members. So my question is why do you think it is important to go to sunday school. Thanks for all answers in advance . I thank GOD for all yall christian brothers and sisters on here who pray and lift each other up Please remember this family in your prayers also.

Sunday, I start my 35th year as a high school Sunday School teacher. You may not realize how common a situation it is for parents to keep their children out of Sunday School. Fear of their child being picked on when they are young, fear of their children being preyed upon when they are older. In the end you just created someone whom has not been well socialized nor exposed to other ways of thinking - which can be devastating to a youth's beliefs when they hit college.....

Which is exactly why I teach at the high school level - the youth need to be grounded in Christian thought, what is real - and what is equally not real. Generally, those kids whom do stick through a four year cycle, end up on pretty steady feet. A few of the others do as well, once they have taken a few sucker punches from life. But even with a fairly solid track record an amazing number of parents still do not allow their children to come to Sunday School.

It really is too bad, today's kids are tomorrows church and it is being ill equipped.....

It sounds like they don't want to hear something that doesn't agree with their views or is of the world! If she is being taught at home that is better than not having any scriptures or the wrong ones taught to her! My son's and his wife, Kim's, children have gone to Sunday School & Church only a few times and David said he wanted them to make up their own mine about what to believe! But if they don't have any teaching about the Bible and Jesus then all they get is the world's views and of course they will go the world's way and believe anyone whatever they would teach them like Liberal teachers in schools! Sad world we live in for sure!

David was raised up in church and Sunday School until he just didn't want to go again at the age of 16, so he didn't. We thought he was too old to make him go and he would just get billigerent if we made him go, but I still wish we had made him anyway. Kim never went but maybe only a few times to Vacation Bible School or maybe SS and doen't want anything to do with Christianity....but she is kind and civil to me, for she knows where I stand and I have sent them Christian poems with all info about how to be saved and that we all need Jesus! I pray for them and since they are adults that's about all I can do! I ask God to help draw them near to Him and then He will draw nearer to them!

Do the children attend Sunday services, and are the parents churchgoing Christians?
Best thing you could do for them is pray

Jeff

Yes SS is an important part of church. We also had a family that did a lot of teaching in home and the dad stated flat out that he wanted to be the one that lead his kids to Christ. In some cases it is a control thing. Many older kids and adults serve during SS so they can't actually attend a class to get fed. but those of us that teach or help also learn while doing so. I do feel however that we need to take time off from serving from time to time to sit in a class of our own.

Yes they do attend sunday services and they are christians .

Thanks for all the replies keep them coming I want to hear from all of yall.

As a Adult Sunday School teacher, I feel Sunday School is important because it is where we can really get into Gods' word in an indepth way. Not only do I learn from studying for the lesson, I encourage interaction from the people in the class. Some have their own opinion, some have very digging questions, and some just sit and learn, but it is a great place to really get into Gods' word without fear. We use small groups in our church, with anywhere from 5 or 6 to maybe 15-20 in each class. Some people feel more comfortable in one class than another, but as long as they are getting the truth taught to them. We need to get more people to come to Sunday School, both adults and children. Many come to church but don't get up to come to Sunday School. Most of our morning service is geared toward a salvation message of some sort, but in Sunday School I focus more on digging deep into the Word, but still include salvation one way or another. I thank God that He chose me to be a teacher. 5 years ago you could not get me to speak in front of anyone. Being a teacher is a great blessing from God.

Yes, DK, God has blessed you to be able to teach SS and speak before the children! I was so bashful and backwards about speaking before anyone until I started writing the Christian poetry His Holy Spirit gives me to write for witnessing and for His glory and praise! It took me awhile to get up in front of the people and read the poems, but I finally got used to it and it wasn't so bad! We can do anything in the joy of the Lord Who gives us strength to face all problems! Amen! God Bless! Betty
