Sundays Storm in Oakland County MI

Well folks, All I can say is , It was fun!!! I was underwater when it got dark. I came up because I thought a boat was around me!! Big mistake. The waves were big and the rain hit my face so hard it stung. So back under I went and stayed down till it was over!! When the lightning struck my machine beeped. I was about 6' deep in the water. A bit scarry because the visibality when I came up was nonexistant. I was scared a boat might come over me so I went deeper to around 12'.

When I came out it was raining lightly and people were astounded that I was down there the whole time!! I missed all the fun! I know it was a nightmare because the sherrif boats were out in force with their lights on, trees were snapped and picnics were scattered all over the park. The two friends that were with me and wading were able to get to the car. It was a nice time to be under water!!

What are the dangers of lightening while down there?

Mike, From what I understand, lightning has to hit pretty close to you while your underwater for you to feel anything. Fish don't get zapped so I won't either. It is kind of neat to look up and watch the rain hitting the water and the lightening. It doesn't scare me. What was really weird is my detector beeping when the lightening would strike, and I was around 10' under!!

Yes I was a bit scared only because no boats would have seen my flag at all. That is why I went deeper. But the wind, waves and dark clouds had no other effect on me. The damage that the storm did to the park was awfull.

i would have been scared but i know how peaceful being underwater can be and i bet it was an outstanding sight to see the rain hittin the water. what an experience to say the least. thanks for the story..:bouncy:

I guess you were safe from the storm with God watching over and protecting you even under water! Glad nothing happened to you while down there waiting for the storm to end! I think you were probably safer there than on land with the park being a mess after the storm sufsided! Also, glad you had enough air to keep you under until it was safer to come up! God is good to His children!

God Bless!
Betty

You should write a full story of the incident. It sounds interesting and exciting.

I prefer diving when it is rainy because kids don't mess with the hookah hose when they're not there.
