Sunray FZ-1 Probe For CZs

Hi All

Has anyone used a Sunray FZ-1 Target probe on their CZ. If so just wondering how well it works? Does it cause any sensitivity degradation or EMI interference susceptibility to the detector, etc?

Thanks,

HH

Works very well. I have seen no negative effects on multiple CZ-70's and CZ-3D's.

Thanks very much for the reply Christopher!

Performance-wise it's a great combination. Got my deep rusty nail count down to near zero. Ergonomically, it takes the weight and balance a little more to the negative side. Been thinking about mounting mine on a straight shaft.

They are good if you like the added weight to a already heavy detector, may be best to reconfig the entire weight for better balance.

I have one on my trusty and highly regarded CZ5 and I would not go out without it! It's a total game changer! No extra batteries for a handheld pinpointer! And since they are actually a switched in as the main search coil, the Sun Ray probes are able to discriminate! Yes, I said it! They can tell iron and other lower tone targets from the silver and copper goodies and you hear them just like you were using the main coil (it IS the main coil when switched in!). I don't use it for anything but in the hole searching, I doubt the depth reading or target ID is accurate, (I use my ears anyway, not the meter) it does reduce depth IMHO but just a tiny bit and it does add some weight to the wrong part of the rod but I still wouldn't hunt without it! Sometimes if I have a shallow target, I will hold it vertically and use the probe tip on the surface of the soil to do a final pinpoint. I can find stuff in the hole like crazy, even in low light. I have found a trick, go into all-metal pinpoint mode while switched to the probe and slide a nickel (I also wear a sterling band and have used it) down the side of the probe until it just starts to hum and it adds about an inch to the probes depth. I'd seen them do this with Garrett probes and I figured the science would be similar. It's kinda like turning up the threshold I guess. A little pricey and somewhat rare but I highly recommend anyone to get one of these. You won't regret it.

Had one and liked it, but they are much better on a Minelab where they usually command twice the price used (ain't no new, ya know).
