Sunray Probes on a F75 LTD Limited ????

St Bernard

New member
I will be getting a F75 LTD limited next month. Are the Sunray probes worth the money to add to the detector? Do they work as advertised or are they another add on that cost around $200.00. For those who have used one or know someone who has one what is the opinion of these probes? Will the Whites TRX pin Pointer due the same thing as this probe depth wise? PROS & CONS appreciated. Thanks

I like the Sunray Fx-1 probe on my F75 se/ltd 2 it is great. The higher the sensitivity is , the deeper the probe will go . And it goes deep . Also it can be used to pin point in the ground. Also the probe runs off the detector , so does not need battery's . A big reminder also is to switch probe to coil after your done useing the probe. I have forgotten a few times. :rage: So I like it. I use other Sunray probes on other machines also. Then there are times I just like useing a regular pin pointer. GS

Sunray probe never took with me , at least on the etrac and having the tones though the headset is it's great attraction. If hunting for gold nuggets or in limited tones , as in all metal , that big advantage of the probe really becomes doubtful. If you are hunting in an area where you have to turn the sensitivity on the F75 down , you are also limiting the depth on the probe which is another handicap , not to mention the switching and wires in brushy country.

I found it much simpler and faster to use a hand held pinpointer....seemed like I was carrying the Sunray around just for looks.

I have one on my F75, (bought it that way used). I really don't like it. I took it off. I like White's TRX.

I had one on my MXT Pro........the biggest pain for me was when I occasionally forgot to flip the switch back to coil mode (instead of the probe).......searching for a while without hearing a sound and then realizing it had to be switched back to coil mode........much happier now with hand held pin pointer.

I have one on my F75SE and Etrac and there is nothing better. Yes I have a regular Garrett Pro pointer and a Garrett Carrot.... The Sunray's ...nothing is in the same league. :)
