Sunray X-1 probe questions

When hunting in thick brush or woods, anyone have problems with the toggle switch being bumped over to probe given the position of the switch? Is there any way to mount the probe under the forearm? Is there any mod to keep the coil wire concealed in the lower rod or do you have to wrap it around the outside. Does it make the detector seem alot heavier? thanks - Ian

Doesnt seem a lot heavier to me... but what i found you have to adjust your rod length properly or it does feel heavy. I havent noticed the switch getting bumped on mine. Yes some one from another forum mentioned a modification he made which required another hole in the rod that pops out just before the box. Im not sure how it might degrade the rod... but he said it didnt seem to. Might ask Ralph at Sun Ray about moving the box... id think it would require a pretty good mod... additional cables and some double sided sponge tap. It might cost more than its worth. You would have cables coming and going from the box that could get hung up in the brush as well. But hey, necessity is the mother of invention... good luck

Shoot I just have to remember to fick it back after using it...weight no problem....I hear jenny craig has a diet plan? under forarm ...concealed lower rod?hmmmm?
he he just kidding!

It is not recommended you try to remount switch box. It is pop riveted to the shaft and there would also be soldering involved. You can pop a hole in the shaft to tuck your cable back inside I did it on my SE but you do have to make a rather large hole. It looks alot better but will now be a pain in the arse to change coils.
