Sunray X-5 Coil sniffs a GEORGEOUS ring out of the trash:yikes:

I had the perfect site at which to use a small coil and mine has been acting funny... so I purchased a Sunray X-5 off of Guvner recently.

My initial impression of this coil...I LIKE it:thumbup:....and at this point...that's all I can say.

I can't go into details right now but watch for a future field test article in Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine...as this is an ongoing and thorough field test.

Just wanted to show the finds from 4 hours of tedious hunting in the rain and 36 degree temps....brrrr..

The highlight of the day was the beautiful sterling silver ring w/ black onyx and cameo setting. It weighed a whopping 10.4 grams.

I also got 2 wheaties...a Roosey...and the flattened penny/token that has the Entire Lord's Prayer engraved in it.

And yes...that IS duct tape and sandwich bags on my SE. When you get to a site and it starts pouring rain...you have to find the nearest thrift store and improvise. :bouncy:

Thanks. I plan on keeping it up until the ground freezes on me. Last year I remember hunting on Christmas eve night...and had to chisel about the first 3" before hitting any diggable dirt:)
I will hunt no matter how cold it is...but when the ground freezes to a certain level...that will be it:blink:

AWESOME HUNT BRYCE, THAT RING CLEANED UP GOOD THE COINS WILL TO, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT KIND OF STUFF YOU CAN PULL OUT OF THIS OLD PLACE WITH THAT COIL SHOULD BE LOTS OF FUN. I GOT SO WET MY FUR WAS STARTED TO FALL OUT.......GOOD HUNT MASTER...

Some more nice finds. Those ziplocks work great in a pinch, but man are they hard to see thru. Duck tap... aw a true mans tool.

Bryce, That cameo ring is in awesome shape!!! I have got the X-5 and just don't seem to have the patiance to run it. You have to move at a snails pace. I have an idea for chipping through the frozen dirt. Do they make a battery powered hammer drill? If they do, you could put a chisel bit in it and go to town! That would probably go a lot faster. Keep up the good work Bryce. Ken

I plan on hunting even after the ground freezes...but only at the 2" to 3" level. I don't mind chiseling away 2" to 3" of dirt to get to the diggable soil....but that's as far as I'll go with my obsession:biggrin:
You're right about moving at a snails pace...because that's what it takes.
It does make it even tougher though when it's 36 degrees...pouring rain...you're soaking wet...fingers freezing...toes freezing..and can't see the scree:crylol:

If the ring was under scraps and pieces of crap that were old...then I assume it's older than they were. I was amazed at the amount of crap in this hole...both before...and after the ring came out.

I think we were both ready to quit an hour sooner...but neither of us wanted to be the one to say it:crylol:
When it got to the point that I nearly dropped the SE because my fingers were numb...well..that;s when I decided I'd had enough. You were begging for me to be the one to stop first anyway:biggrin:...so I finally pulled the trigger:smoke:
