Sunray X1 and the Safari

acasto

New member
I am very handy with tools. Is it that hard to adapt an X1 to the Safari? Can the above average mechanically inclined do it?
Can I still run the cord thru the lower shaft? I really like that stream lined appearance.
Looking at either the X1 probe, or the X5 coil.

Thanks.
Tony

You won't have any problem with the coil but you will have to cut a hole in the bottom of the upper shaft to hook into the X-1 box. I just run my coil cable on the outside. Does look better inside though. HH :minelab:

Well, got my X-1 and a new pair of Sunray headphones. X-1 came mounted to the upper shaft already. Can't wait to get out and try them somewhere besides my yard.

You will like that probe. Best money I have spent on an accessory. Whatever your coil hits on is the only thing in that hole your probe will locate. If you have any problem locating the target hit pin-point the probe will nail it. Save a lot of unecessary digging. HH :minelab:

RE: The Sun-Ray probe is actually a 1 inch coil that is programed the same as your large coil. If you decide to dig a target say for example a 39 which will probably be something silver. When you turn on that probe that is what it is programed to find does'nt matter what else is in the hole. when you retrieve the target and recheck the hole and there is a 14 in there also then you can get the nickel. The Garrett probe is a great probe but it does not discriminate targets in the hole. But it will not drive your multi-frequiency machine crazy either. I have a Pistol Probe that is a very good probe but can't use it with my Safari. A lot of people use the Garrett probe so that tells me they have to be good but after seeing and using the X-1 I chose the Sun-Ray. Whatever a person chooses that gets the target that's what's important. You are going to be digging some deep holes so get what you want that works best for you. HH :minelab:

hershey1,

Thanks for this information because I was not familiar with the Sun-Ray probe. My only
concern is the extra weight of the probe and the Safari weight.

I have been using the Garrett Pro Pointer and it is great because the variable tone
allows me to pinpoint the target exactly and by using
the 'coin trick', I can get up to 4 inches of depth on the target.
However, if the target is deeper than 4 inches, then I have to make sure my detector
coil has pinpointed the object.
Some people don't realize that using the Garrett Pro Pointer with the 'coin trick',
a person can detect a 1 grain ounce of Gold flake, which I have done while panning
for Gold.
