Surf PI and PI PRO

Is there a difference with these two machines in regard to the Surf PIs' Pulse Delay knob and the PI PRO' knob that some are calling the "gain knob" What would be the difference if any? I am under the impression that I can turn up the pulse delay to help eliminate caps>>> also since I have the Mr Bill modification on the Surf PI does that make this knob a Gain instead of a pulse delay?? Any Help?

Your modified Surfmaster PI still has a pulse delay control.
On the new Surfmaster PI Pro they locked the pulse delay at one setting, and used the space that use to have the pulse delay control, and installed a receiver gain control. Because there is a large gain factor with the new control, in most factors maximum gain setting it not attainable.
I tweaked up the gain a bit, and left the pulse delay because I thought it would be of more value to the user.
Yes you can use the pulse delay to help eliminate caps, but as one retards the delay, sensitivity toward lower conductive gold jewelry drops also.

Ok Me thinks I understand>>> Electronics and I do not mix well>> So with the modification I still have the pulse>> If I move the setting above the preset I am going to lose sensitivity>>> Correct? Therefore the knob will be just turned to the factory preset. And the tuner to where you just hear a hum> Ill try this setting this weekend
I did set the volume knob to max I hope this will help me hear those low sounds. Thanks Bill

Set the pulse control to minimum for best results for gold jewelry, not the pre-sets.
My recommendation would be for you to set up various targets, and check them against the response of the detector as you adjust the pulse delay, to learn the basic responsiveness of the unit before hunting with it.
