Surf pi kit, first time builder questions

plugpopper

New member
I have been into this great hobby for over 4 years now and I have always loved building and fixing things so it seems fitting that I buy a kit to make my own creation. So far on the geotech I have been introduced to the surf pi kit which comes with a board and all resistors, capacitors, etc to basically have the meat and potatoes of the unit. Any experienced pi builders that can give me any pointers as to if this would be a good first time project would be appreciated. I will be using it primarily for lower conductors. I have experience soldering and using whatever is around to build things so I have the skill, I just need to be pointed in the right direction for a relatively inexpensive kit that has potential to hit coins on the 8-10" range. Thanks in advance to anybody with any pointers or info. I'm actually excited to follow in the footsteps of our metal detecting father's and build my own unit!
