Sweep Speed

What is your normal sweep speed? All you have to do is cut that in half and you will be on your way to finding the deep coins everyone else is going over and missing. Also make sure you have deep on.

You know, kinda " Lets Go -- Got ground to cover-- but not too fast-- sweep speed is what I have been using. Guess I need to cut that in half, right?

Mike

Yes, definitely. If you want to cherry pick first, it's up to you but if there are more than 1 person at the same site, they will be getting the deeper finds(Barber,Seated,Etc.) while you will be finding some of it but most likely Merc's,Etc. Hope it works out for you and remember, don't be impatient if you know that there is older coins there, you could pass up a 16-d Merc or 01-s Barber Quarter and the next guy will get it. Good luck and hope you find the mother-load.

Thanks, I can use the luck and BTW that Platapus coil is working out ok, will let you know when the good finds start coming in.

Mikel,
The sweep speed of an Explorer is on the slow side for good results. Don't feel bad about not knowing this important aspect of detecting since most people haven't got a clue about their detector of choice nor do they know how to figure it out either.
