T-2 Compared to T-2SE

How much more to you gain in depth. Using the T-2 all metal mode.compared to boost mode mode on T-2 SE.? Thanks

I've not been able to test myself, but have been told that its only 1 to 1 1/2 inches difference.

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking but I've seen comments by some of the best T2 detectorists on Youtube; aquachigger, bill ladd etc. about the difference, they use regular T2's and have said the SE is a gimic to sell for more $, that you can pick up any signal with the regular model you can with the SE.

I dunno. I only have the T2 and have never tried the SE or LTD. I think it's scary deep and digging 12" targets in these parts requires more than a shovel, you need a pick and prybar as well. I don't know how many deep targets I've left undetermined and unexcavated as it was too much work to get to it with the tools on hand. A couple of times I returned with heavier artillery only to find some buried car part or other large iron junk. Sometimes I can find a corner of it enough to make a junk ID. I just fill the hole back in and move on. I'm sure there's places such depth can be utilized, but for me, sensitivity to shallow small things like a possible nugget are more desirable.

If you want to try an easy experiment, hunt a sparse target area with the T2 held in pinpoint mode. You will home in on signals from well over a foot away from the coil edges and I'd presume as deeply. I use that "hidden feature" at the tot lot when I hit a relatively clear area. I don't waste time crawling the coil over large barren spots and instead can move in on any signal that pops up just by going for the louder signal. With some reduction of the pinpoint sensitivity it might be useable for prospecting, but tends to sound off on ground effects moreso than "normal" scanning in mineralized soil. Just try it sometime, as it's a far more sensitive mode than either disc or no-motion all metal.

Aquachigger uses a T2SE and as far as Bill Ladd he uses the standard T2 but he seemed pretty impressed by the Camo F75 in BP mode he done a YouTube video on. I use the T2SE it's like the standard T2 but the BP mode adds depth and it's able to id a target better where as the standard may pick it up but the screen stays blank. In high grass and corn stubble where the BP mode excels.

First if you are trying to compare , it should be Disc to SE Disc boost mode
and All Metal to SE All Metal boost.

If you hunt in bad soil [With any Machine ] and can only run at 80% of max then cranking it to 100%
may give you nothing more.

I have not heard boost mode called a gimmick , i don't have the T2 but the F75 LTD and had the standard F75 first.
NASA TOM tested the LTD when first released and stated depth on a dime was only 1/4 inch deeper than stock ,
and if just coin shooting with a good ear it might not make a difference but if relic hunting in brush you can raise the coil 4 , 5 or 6 inches above the ground and still
hit the target. or low conductors like gold / brass, boost mode is hands down superior to standard mode.

Great repot Mike(gmanlight) that is exactly how the T2SE is compared to the standard T2 with either detector you are going to be getting excellent depth and target separation. But to me the extra features on the T2SE is worth it. You will be happy with either detector though.

Had a regular T2, regular F 75 and now the F 75 LTD and if the T 2 SE is anything like the F 75 LTD, then the boost mode is not a gimmick. If you do nothing but coin hunt and the places you hunt are always mowed regularly, then you will not gain much by going with the SE. If, though, you hunt for relics and small gold and do on occasion find your hunting spots with tall grass and brush, then you need the SE. The boost mode is the real deal. Whether necessary just depends on your kind of hunting. HH jim tn

Only? To me that extra 1 1/2 inches is the difference between finding a half reale and missing it at 8 inches,

FYI, Boost allows for a slower sweep speed and also affects the characteristics of the All Metal mode.
