T-2 Question

The T-2 seems to be gaining ground in the relic hunting world with it's depth and ability to find good targets in iron. But before I would commit $800.00 I would like to know how good the build quality is. Will it stand up to the rigors of relic hunting in deep woods? And how weather resistant is it? Thanks for your comments.

Jerry the T2 will do great in the woods. get the rain covers for it and an extra lower stem. The lower stem seems to be the weakest part. Not that they break often but be prepared.

so far mine has held up, ive used whites in the past and there built like tanks, was worried about the t2 but has done quite well. using it as a shield mowing through the brush in Upper Michigans forests, been hooked up on many branches climbing up steep hills and sliding down some. the t2 is so light you can swing it all day, i gets dirty but still looks like new, havent even noticed any real scratches in it yet. there tuffer than they look. They are a LOT tougher than they look. Thats not to say that they wont have any defects, as mine has both cam locks broken. BUT even in that condition, the rod is as rock solid as it could possibly be, a testament to the design of these things. And for the record, First Texas is sending me two replacement cam locks free, no questions asked. I've hunted with a LOT of different machines,many of which were quite expensive, but the T2 is at the TOP of my list, and I dont see anything knocking it off for a long time.

I have to agree with Jeff, Thompy and MIG73. The machine is tougher than it looks. I've had mine now for about 5 months and most of my detecting is in woods and uncultivated fields. I have not had any breakage problems at all and I knock mine around quite a lot. I am used to a Garrett GTI-2500, which is heavier and very solid. Because the T2 is so much lighter, I swing it harder and regularly get it tangled in vines, banged into trees, and caught on protruding rocks. I am not saying I will not damage it, but that goes with the territory. If you are looking for an indistructable maching, good luck, it has not been made yet. The T2 is a solid piece of equipment and, by all accounts, Teknetics stands by it. So go for it and enjoy it. You will love it!!!!

i had one of the old type bottom stems on my t2 with the cutouts ,it got the wobbles a couple of months ago and my dealer ,replaced it with the new fisher F75 solid ones ,it changes the machine making it feel far more solid .the new type stems are being supplied on all new T2's anyway

I hunt really hard places and the machine does take a bit of a beating...however the machine may look frail...but she's pretty tough.

I agree that if you hard hunt a spare lower shaft is the thing to carry...nothing like being 300 miles from home on an island and braking it!! LOL

I wouldn't trade this machine for anything..and I still have an early model, which I have been too lazy to send in for the update..I will this winter I promise!!!
