T2 currently being delivered...

May not be newest model. Not supposed to be any till may or june when the new ltd comes out.

the paint was still tacky on that one it was so new. If it says 6.5, that's what it should be. Do not get it confused with the LTD's. This was a brand new, just released T2 standard.

That time frame about May or June before next release is just not true. I just received a shipment of them, direct from factory, a few days back.

Mr. Bill

I guess I should have been a little clearer. It was just too early in the morning.

They were standard models, not LTD's. Your correct LTD's will be out in May/June time frame.

I was informed that the T2 I sold & mentioned here, was marked 6.5, but this person had a T2 that had 6.6 version. I have no idea whats up with that. I doubt that First Texas know either. :)

Thanks Bill. I have asked several people on ebay about machines with 6.6 and it seems that all of them had been back to be checked out. One even had several new functions he did not have before. One I can remember was a boost mode. He did say it made a difference. Maybe there are secrets we are not supposed to know about.

I doubt it's secrets. Most likely a numbering system they used to ID what units had been in for repairs. If his had to go back, and he noticed better performance on return, perhaps it was because it was fixed correctly after not functioning properly.

Actually, Mr. Bill I have seen posts from a couple of users who said that after they sent their T2s in for a check up and rom flash they came back with 6.6 on them. At least one reported that he had the new modes, including boost, that are on the LTD version. I called FT and asked them about that but the guy I had on the phone didn't seem to know the differences between the T2 and LTD versions and so couldn't tell me if this was an official thing or if the guy's T2 had accidentally been flashed with the LtD firmware.

I was going to send mine in for a flash and see what happened but I succumbed to the crazy Ebay prices and sold it. I'll buy another once they hit the used market and the prices return to sane levels as in the meantime I am going to try a DFX as I have always wanted to try a White's machine but have never owned one before now.

Like I just posted, they used it for a numbering system to ID if the unit had been worked on. Way too much emphasis put on what version it is.Sometimes it makes a difference, most cases it doesn't. Like V5 to V6. A little gains, and a little loss. There's always a trade off. From V6 to V6.5, I doubt if the user would see the difference.

Have a nice day
Bill

V6.6 changed the default start-up program. Instead of starting up in the discrimination mode, V6.6 started up in the All Metal mode.

From what I understand it was done to aid those that wanted to use the T 2 as a nugget hunter, but not having a lot of knowledge about how to run the detector.

Mr. Bill

I knew there had to be some reason. :) Also in the box is a laminated sheet of instructions on how to hunt for nuggets and it is in English and what looks like Arabic. The manual seemed different to me as well. Not that I remember word for word the other one, but this one seemed different, like it had more useful information in it.

Of course that could just be that I understand the terminology better too.
