T2-is it good at rejecting rusty boittlecaps??

vs the Coinstrike that ID's them as a coin and how is the depth on coins in mineralized ground??

I cant help you out with Hot ground for my soil here is pretty mild, but those good old boy's in UK hunt in some of the worse ground you could imagine and get really great depth. as for the Rusted Bottle caps I dug Four of them to day and they have registered as coins. I really don't get to worked up over it or even try to here the difference all that much because I'm A digger and I have learned that if your not digging trash your Keeper find is down. After digging one to day there was a coin hiding under it and many of my finds to day, there were multiple targets in the same hole, The meter bounced allot and out came first a rusted bottle cap then a rusted square nail and then a Awesome Button and a sweat collectible Marble. I cant say I have had a problem with the the Bottle caps to a point of discouragement or all that many even hunting the Parks, but with all the Detectors I have used, I dug Rusted Bottle Caps. Have A Great Day and Good Hunting!

Hi Mike,

I really haven't posted anything related on the T-2 in a long time, but your thread here got me fired up with my T-2 experience last year rejecting bottle caps. I'll attach a link and I feel you'll find it very encouraging....Plus, On your question "how is the depth on coins in mineralized ground??" The T-2 detects well and deep in mineralized soil, You won't have any problems digging deep coins in mineralized soil.

How to reject Bottle caps with the T-2

Paul,

I read your prior post some time ago and gave the 3b setting a try. I usually run the sensitivity at about 80 and the discrimination about 20. When I switched the tones back and forth between the 3 and 3b I did not notice much difference and I still had trouble digging bottle caps.

I have trouble understanding why setting the discrimination higher (up to 80) would have much effect on the bottle cap tone. Perhaps the key is that the 80 setting is close to the 81-82 readings that you observed

I did not realize that bottle caps tend to generate a one way target indication. Perhaps that is the key to rejecting bottle caps in the 3b setting.

Keep in mind that I do not reallly consider myself proficient with the T2 and have kind of given up on it in favor of my Explorer II. At any rate, I appreciate your posts.

HH,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Yes, That is one of the key ingredients "avoid one-way signals" and don't dig two way signals that read 81-82 when your disc is set to maximum (80.)

Some bottle caps that bleed over and fall into 81-82 may be one-way signals and those that come in as a two-way signal reading 81-82 avoid them as well, Dig only 83 two-way signals and above.

You can take the T-2 with it's large coil onto a bottle cap infested site and pull out clad by the handful, The recovery speed is amazing not even the Explorer can operate this fast with a smaller coil recovering clad coins.

Once a T-2 user gets dialed in with his machine, He'll clean up on clad from his locale bottlecap infested sites in no time.

Keep working on this 3b mode, Allot of coins in that trash others are leaving behind.

I really enjoyed your thread, I always welcome new information and knowledge to get an edge out in the field where we have so many different conditions and styles of hunting, I haven't been clad hunting in a while but would like to this week and hope for some jewelry to change the pace.
I Love the Detecting Forums, they are so loaded with wealth of information even if its not in line with your style of Hunting or equipment. It still has great Value! You just need to keep an open mind, many times I believed I had the best settings and was to Hard Headed to try some ones advice with different methods. But I have learned there is always more to learn just when you think you have it all down, even if it doesn't work for you it still has Value for future preference and for some one else it could benefit. Have A Great Day Of Detecting!
