T2 Issues

I bought my T2 LTD for a hunt in Virginia because I had heard from several sources that my Minelab SE PRO would not do will in the "cruddy wed dut" in VA. I found that the T2 did not have a steep learning curve and the light weight of the machine was a big plus. It turns out that the on-off volume switch is a problem for me. The volume control gets reduced as I swing the coil and I have to constantly check it. Sometimes it turns off the machine and you wonder why things are so quiet... Has anyone else had this problem and are there any clever solutions? Thanks.

Are you a lefty? I am and I have that problem when I am hunting in the woods with alot of brush. Little branches swipe the knob and things are turnrd up, down or off. I have seen a modification where the on/off switch was moved to the underside on the unit. I can't tell you who does those mods though. I don't know.

I swing right handed and I think that it rubs against my waist. Maybe if I put the lower rain cover over it that would do the trick?

Keeping the lower or back environmental cover on mine keeps the volume knob from moving due to the increased friction from the cover around the knob.

Sounds like a couple of good ideas. Are the rain covers custom made or are they sold by first Texas?

I run the T2 and have had few, if any issues with the ON/OFF/Volume knob (I'm a rightie). I do keep the rain and dust cover on at all times and whatever detector I use, I have a habit of periodically checking the settings, etc.. Everyone should do that as needed, because it's a GOOD habit. As long as you do so, there won't be any issues at all. :wiggle:

I have raised this problem with Tecnetiks no answer so far. They did take notice of the weak bottom stem on the T2 now its one piece job I have a small piece of plastic made into an arch that will coverr the knob. I adjust the machine to what I require then carefully place the plastic using the rain cover to hold it in place. Works quite well. But I do check the settings from time to time. I did ask the company but no reply.

I removed the volume knob and put a piece of felt behind it. It's thick enough to provide some drag to hold the setting better. For the "battery bounce" problem on early machines, I placed some foam weatherstripping on the inside of the case behind the batteries to prevent them from moving. That has since been fixed at the factory by stronger springs.
