T2 or Omega 8000?

Lookin for a little advice. I've been thinking about trading in (Selling) my White's XLT & getting a T2 BUT that Omega 8000 sure looks like a good machine & I hear a lot of good things about it! My question is... Is there REALLY that much Depth difference in the two machines?? I hunt mostly old house sites, Old school yards, Churches and parks and trash is ALWAYS an issue. (Occasional CW relic hunting) Hopefully, some of you have swung BOTH machines & can give me an unbiased opinion! If there IS a difference, WHY? Thanks in advance!!

Give you my honest opinion. I own the White's Silver Eagle. Which is a XLT, minus the gain control and advanced software programming. I also own the newest version of the T2. The T2 is really high tone (good target indicator) chirpy in high trash areas. Forces me to investigate too many worthless signals that briefly high tone. I consider that a big fail when coin hunting. Slows me down to a crawl. The 20+ year old White's is more stable and accurate in its reporting of true good audio signals. The T2 will go deeper than a XLT due to design and its DD coil. But it's a frustrating unit for coinshooting trashy areas. On the other hand, the T2 is a Killer for relic hunting. Amazing depth. And the T2 is light as a feather with perfect balance. Far less tiring to swing than a XLT.
Just depends on what type of hunting is more important to you.
The Omega is a far better/stable coinshooter than the T2. Just read up on the Omega in regards to this. It was primarily designed for coinshooting. The T2 wasn't.

Thanks for the advice TD! Do you think I'd be GAINING anything (Depth etc...) going with an Omega over my XLT?? & how much REAL depth difference is there between the Omega and T2? I guess my main focus is Silver coins @ old house sites etc... & although trash separation is a major concern, depth will always be a concern too! I would get the 11" DD also IF I got an Omega. Sorry to monopolize your time but you seem the right guy to get advice from!

Like I said.........read on the Omega here at FMall...........research prior posts............it's quite the coinkiller for its price range....:) And buy from a forum sponsor........they are competitive in pricing.........it keeps the site in business.

Got it! Thanx!! HH

You too Bart! I appreciate your time & advice!!

In case no one else mentioned it, the Omega is great for coins, for relic hunting I would say the T2 for the extra depth, but you may also consider the G2. It's one heck of an all around machine and it hits gold jewelry hard. Still probably not quite as deep as a T2, but will give it a run.

don't know about the omega and don't want to tarnish your view of the omega but the T2 I think is a great coin machine my coin finds have gone up alot since previously owning a dfx it's true does chatter some but you can set it up to run quiet and still get good depth and like all machine's you have to learn it. Also it does separate trash well I have found coins in the same area's that I have hunted with a cz3d and dfx , got a silver Rosie today at pounded school yard might not be what your looking for but I wouldn't count it out as a coin shooter.

@tndiggin - Just when I thought I's 'bout to save a few hundred bux, I get a message like yours! LOL - I'm still leaning towards the T2Ltd. but everyone telling me 'bout it's "Chatter" & the coin finding smoothness & quietness of the Omega still has me undecided! That "extra" depth of the T2 sure sounds good though I just wish I knew how MUCH extra depth to REALLY expect!!

In all fairness, each machine has its good & not so good points. I would base my decision on what type of hunting is most important to you, and get the machine that excels in that area. No single detector does it all. Or else, we would all own one model of detector....lol.......Jimbog & TnDiggn are also correct in their asessments. May sound like I am beating up on the T2. I am not. Pulled a wheatie penny with a iron nail next to it at 5" yesterday. That's damn impressive in my book. A White's unit (XLT/Silver Eagle) couldn't pull that off. Ultimately, you have to make the decision on which detector to buy.....and live with it:)

@ Terra Digger - Amen! Nuff said!

No matter what unit you get..there will be many people here to help you.:) Pirate, Bart has a T2 LTD in-ground depth chart I informed him of. I tried to private message it to you. FindMall won't allow it. Probably because your a new user. Contact Bart. He should be able to get you access to it.

@TD - What the heck! I'm not too worried about spam here. I'd really appreciate ANY info you could send me to danl3624@gmail.com - All you guy's are great! I can only imagine if there were forums like this YEARS ago when I started. My 50,000 finds might be A Million by now! I LUV learning from Y'all & I appreciate your patience and knowledge!!

ive had both and the T2SE is alot better in my opinion. its quieter, deeper, and has trigger pinpoint, alot longer battery life, comes stock with th 11in dd coil and 5in dd. volume control, so if you are wondering which one its a no brainer

Thanks Bill ! Yea, I just read a scathing opinion on the depth of the O8 and that made the decision a lot easier for me! Now I just gotta get that White's DFX outta my head! By the way "Basstrackerman" - I've been Bass fishin' for 35 Years & I look at Metal detecting kinda like fishing! I get a similar thrill finding a Silver coin or CW relic that I do catching a fat hog! Which "Hobby do you enjoy the most?

I love both. I fish as much as i can. And detect as much as possible. I take a tector and rod an reel everywhere i go. Plus i hunt deer sept til feb . I love being outdoors.

I probably don't have as much experience with one machine as many others but I have owned many machines and used each of them some. I find the T2 to be a very deep relic hunter. I believe the F-75 to be about the same. I like the Omega much better for coin hunting but also use the AT Pro and Whites M6 some. I have the F-70 with the 11" DD coil (like the F-75) and would use it regularly if I couldn't figure out whether I was a relic hunter or a coin hunter. Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the great advice guy's!!! I've spent WAY too much time on the forums & Youtube lately & just got bogged down with "info-overload!" Just came across an Awesome deal on a F75 SE that I just can't pass up! (T2 on steroids!) Wanted the T2LTD but LUV the extra features on that top of the line fisher! (Luv the Camo too!) Wish me luck!!
