T2 questions

I just purchased a new t2 and I really love this machine! Compared to my little f2 this thing is a monster! Its nice having tons of power to spare and being able to change up all the settings for just about any conditions! The only thing I was having trouble with was the very trashy areas. I know once I learn the machine better I will be able to deal with these situations better but I was just wondering if the 5in coil would be a good choice to use when dealing with these really trashy sites? Also I keep seeing people posting about a boost when your set at certain disc or sense settings. If someone could explain what this exactly does or means I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much.

50 discrimination gives the T2 a boost in power. .......... Lower number too.5 or 9 I forget which was posted. I didn't notice it with my 6.5 T2..Just at 50.

On most detectors you lose sensitivity with higher disc.. Not the T2....

Yes.the 5" coil is awesome in trash......... Solid depth, and much less noise......which by the way is actual targets in the ground your hearing. The processor is so fast you hear targets that other machines miss, or null out before recovery, and hitting the next target as you swing the coil.

On the other hand !.Do not be afraid to turn the sens down a little on your T2........... It will still go very very deep.........and sometimes work better at lower sensitivity if heavy trash is the ground where your detecting. You'll never be able to view all the numbers as they flash on the screen for ID. The Sound is seperate from ID..Listen for the fast high tones, then isolate those.. You'll find some nice Silver coins next to trash. On some really deep coins you will not get anything but Audio..Nothing will id on the screen.............

Thank you that is very helpfull! I have been using the 3 tone and digging the solid high hits and I have been finding coins but from what you said I do think I was running the sense to high! Since the deep targets wont read on the screen how can you tell when you should dig? I think I rely to much on the screen and not on th audio. If I use 1 or 2 tone how can I tell what the good hits are?

I gave te wrong impression. Most targets will read on the ID.Even the deepies..but once in awhile you'll get an audio and no Id on the screen. This can be a coin, or some other very deep target worth digging.. as far as regular Id some will be a fast hit, and then it will reset and hit another target with a different sound Lower usually. Go back over those targets slow a little and isolate the ID and the high sound......... you will get used to the sounds and Id..... Most of the time they work together but some times they don't As you swing the processor samples the target.then it sends you an Id and a sound......... Try rereading the manual and pay close attention to tones and processing section..... you will see it is sorta like a dual control..........

Thanks again! I think I just have to get out there and put the time in. It seems like thats the only real way to learn. Ive learned that everyone likes to run the machine differently and some things work better then others for different people. I just recently got into detecting about 4 months ago and I was using a fisher f2 until last week. I read the manual and alot of things on the internet but the rest I gotta learn in the field. Im just trying to do as much research on the t2 as I can so I can get a good understanding of how it works. I was worried that I didnt buy the right machine but the more I read and the more I use it I think it was the best way to go. Thanks for your help! I am new to the whole metal detecting world and this forum is really helpfull!

oh you bought the right machine.........nothing beats swing time! ojt...on the job training!....ya just have to get out there and apply it.......i use the disc mode mostly....running 2+ tones.........you will hear the targets....they will double beep loud....keep at it...persistance and perservearence always pays off.........

Thanks alot pennystock! I know I cant stop thinking about going diggin!! lol This winter is going to be sooo long! If we get a couple more days of nice weather Im taking off and going out for some on the job training!

The 5" coil is a monster. Gets 1-2" less depth than the 11" DD. Not bad for a little coil less than half the size. Plus you can run the sensitivity a little higher. And can that little bugger sniff out good targets next to trash. Its my preferred coil. I owned the T2, now own an Omega.
