t2 se air test?

Like i put in a previous post i have only had my t2 se for a week now and it has been giving id numbers in the 70s for old square nails so now im wondering about depth. I did an air test yesterday with sensitivity at 90,discriminatin at 10,2+ tone and with a steady id numer and good audio tone: flat button @ 7 inches,.58 minie @ 71/2,spur buckle @ 7 1/2 inches.....same settings and erratic id numbers/barley picking up audio signal i got about 1 1/2 inches added to those measurements on each item........dropped sensitivity to 80 and it took away 1 1 /2 inches on each item. My question is,are these measurements about normal for the t2 se? I just thought id get a couple inches more depth but if thats the way it is then ill live with it. I ask these questions just to make sure i didnt get a defective machine. Thanks in adavance for any input

Higher sens indoors with EMI actually will give you less depth abilities on any detector..

Go outside find some clean ground GB the detector, then do your air tests starting at 60 and working your way up on the sensitivity..

I actually did the air test outside,GB first and then did the air test. In my test garden i have a minie ball at 7 inches and it picks it up good in boost mode BUT switch to 2+ and it doesnt even see it. Im sending it back tomorrow because everyone i talk to says it should be deeper than it is. I havent dug anything over 5 inches since ive had it. Boost mode is deep but recovery is too slow,2+ recovery is extremely fast but depth is poor. Not what i expected to say the least.
