T2 SE target separation and a swing speed question

So I've been trying to use the new ( to me ) black T2 SE more and more. Frankly, I've only got a few hours on it so far. I'm trying to use it as a coin machine right now, hitting some previously hunted yards to see if I can sniff out something I missed with the MXT. It's pretty obvious the machine likes bottle caps and rusty tipped items, just like the other machines I've used. So far I've only found a few pieces of overlooked clad, but I'm noticing an increase of nails in my holes. Not that I'm digging nail signals mind you,,,, I'm digging coin signals that I believe may have been overlooked previously due to iron masking. Just last night I hit a 90-91 signal with good tone, but it was surrounded by iron grunts. I dug a plug and found 7 rusty nails,,, but then there was a clad dime also. I guess the rust skewed the TID a bit, but the machine knew something was there and was able to communicate it to me in a way to make me dig it. I'm thinking the machine is doing pretty well with target separation. At some point I'll put that little sniper coil on and try it, but for now I wanna give the big one a good test run.

Swing speed?? Fast or slow with the T2?

I usually do a 2 sec. sweep, left to right, right to left. Others may do different.

Swing speed can slightly differ due to what sites that i am on,if i am on a club site which is normally a set acerage over a specific time then i will swing a normal average swing speed what ever that is,but if i am on say my own permissions and i have plenty of time then i will go as slow as anything and usually the slower i go the better the finds rate.

If i am swinging a big coil on a pasture site then that will be a really slow swing, what works for one person may not work for another.

So we're saying that the machine itself doesn't have a preference as it pertains to performance? The reason I ask is I'm thinking I heard somewhere that the T2 identifies targets better with a faster swing,,, but my memory could be off so I thought I'd ask others.

Its a personal thing swing speed, some will say a detector will perform better with a faster swing speed, prehaps i am old fashion but in my mind the old saying of keeping the coil 'low and slow' still hold true today as it always has done.

I've heard a faster swing will help on the deeper targets, but the numbers will tend to bounce around. If it sounds good, dig. I should have mentioned that on my previous post. But like the other fellow says...low and slow. That works for me and have dug some deep bullets that way and don't "feel the need for speed". Good luck hunting. Robert

I think it's best, just my experience over the years no matter the detector, to use a normal, comfortable swing speed. When you get a signal, whether it be high tone or low tone, then slow down and check it out. If the tone is mixed with high and low, even just a hint of high dig it. Don't worry about the numbers they're just not reliable in a trashy site.
