T2 Upgrade

D&P-OR

Well-known member
At the risk of sounding redundant----does anyone know what that 6.6 "upgrade" on the Standard T2 CONSISTED OF?---Was the 6.6 revision (upgrade) the MOST CURRENT (or only) one made on that detector?---Still haven't gotten an answer to that question & even when I called Teknetics, the guy I asked "stumbled" around with an answer & didn't seem to really know.---Not trying to "beat a dead horse" but I shore wud like ta no!!!! :) ---------Del

if i remember right the upgrade was to correct a problem with moisture getting into the box. could do a search on some of the earlier postings on the t-2.

Del:

They sealed up the Head and beefed up the hand grip. The first ones got moisture in them sometimes and the hand grips were ripping and tearing off.
IT WAS FREE AT INITIAL SALE of machine. It's $50.00 for the upgrade now. Or at least thats what they were charging for the F75 . Both machines had the same issues

Yeah, that's what they did for us on those earlier F-75's (for 50 bucks).---For them, it was a replacement of battery springs (if needed), that weatherization seal on the box (to keep moisture out) & new "pistol grip" (if needed).---Then some of those new seals cracked (dried out or whatever)--- & had to be replaced yet again (Fisher changed the type of seal material).---All that was on the earlier machines though--they worked thru it.---No problem in that regard (that I'm aware of) with these new machines.------Did the earlier T2's go thru something similar to that?---------Del

Elton----Just now seen your answer to my post--thanks.----I was typing up my last msg. to send out. --------Del

I am pretty sure that the $50 is for the moisture seal. Mine locked up in the humidity of July one year and I sent it in and it was fixed, no charge. At that same time they replaced the original hand grip cushion, with one just like it. The following year I sent it in because I broke the shaft. They called me and asked if I wanted the weatherproof upgrade for $50. I said no. That time they replaced the second hand grip cushion with a thicker hand grip cushion. Again no charge. This new cushion is not only much more comfortable, it has lasted over two years. The slender ones were wearing out in a month or two.

I have the version 6.0, I heard there are 6.6's and 6.7's.

OK----I'll bite!------What's the difference between the 6.6 and 6.7 upgrades???-----Anybody?----About the time I've (kinda) got this 6.6 thing figured out---an 6.7??? :crylol: ------Incidentally, "I heard" the new black T2 LTD that's comeing out is a 7.2 (serious).---Maybe the "7.2" is just the 2 modes & a "purdy" black paint job, I dunno.------Don't you JUST LUV this "I heard" business??-----Kinda like--"I no how to run a 'tector cuz I dun red a book bout it". ----------Del

the particular shade of Green of the original T[sup]2[/sup]. I wish they'd just stick with than. Too many blasted 'black' detectors out there these days.

Just opinions of course.
