T2 vs F70

John(Tx)

New member
How do these two machines compare to each other? I've been using the F70 and it has good performance, will the T2 do any better? Thanks, John

They are really very close...maybe too close to call (though some may argue that the F70 is a bit deeper). I really like the T2's trigger, so that's a plus & the DD coil is great too. But, with the F70 you can get that DD coil from an F75 & pretty much be all set.

Bill

I've thought about getting the F75 DD coil but our ground minerals here are very low, don't think I would really need it, Would I gain anything over the F70 stock coil? HH John

Here are some differences :

1. The T2 has the extended iron range, 40 of the 100 numbers are for the iron range, compared to 15 on the F70. That is why the T2 is more liked in England and Italy then the F70 or F75.
2. The T2 has the better stronger display window and the grip is F75 style.

The F70 has speed settings slow and de even for the auto tune all metal mode ( That makes it even better in that mode than the F75).
In disc mode the sensitivity and the threshold control the power of the F70. On the T2 the threshold seems to have no effect in disc mode.

Which one is better really depends what you want to do with it. To pull coins out of iron the T2 may be the better choice. Other than that the F70 offers more control for the user over the punch and stability.

Even at it's size it does excellent in iron trash & such. But if you hunt more open areas & have little mineralization, the coil it comes with is pretty nice too & will suit you well. I even swap the F70 coil on the F75 sometimes for cornfields & such. Some feel the F70 coil being concentric can be a tad deeper....
HH,
Bill

I like the F70, a great detector for the money. But it having the depth of the T2 I have not been able to verify. My buddy's F70 will NOT approach the depth of my T2, at least on high conductors. It might get the same depth with the stock F75 coil though.

In my dirt in Missouri, even in rocky ground, the T2 spanks the F70 on depth. It also runs more stable at high gain settings........MO

I HAVEN/T USED A F70 BUT BEEN USING THE T2 FOR HALF OF YEAR NOW.IT GOES DEEP I HAVE DUG FLAT BUTTONS AT 11 INCHES. IRON SEE THROUGH IS GREAT ON THE T2 IF SET UP RIGHT.
