T2se question

2 Much Trash

Well-known member
Do any of you guys ever hunt in CL mode? You never here much about it. It's mostly 2+ and bp that takes center stage. I've had my t2se for about 16 months now but never seriously considered it because of that, and the fact that even though the manual gives a full description of the cl mode's capabilities, all that stuck in my mind was it was good for finding manhole covers 2 feet in the ground but not so good for normal relic hunting. Also, I was having such good success with bp, and 2+ on occasion, I didn't want to take the time to experiment. This past mid February my buddies and I went back, yet again, to one of our well worn spots. The last few hunts barely produced a bullet or 2. While my buddies took to the woods to hunt some rifle pits I decided to stay in this little field where we park the trucks and catch up with them later. Believe me, this little field has been pounded by us and a bunch of other folks too. But remembering how much meat cl mode had on depth and tone in my little back yard air tests I decided to give a good honest try and hunt slow like the good ole days. Not much to lose I figured. I never left that field for the next 4 hours and ended up with one of the best days I'd had in a while. Justa cruising along in cl mode. I had 6 more hunts since then going to some of our other well worn spots and the outcome was the same each time. I'm using this little iPad now and have pictures of what I found in cl. As soon as I figure out how to down load them to the forum on this little thing I'll putem' up. Sorry, I'm still a little ole school. But in the mean time, any of you guys who hunt or have hunted in cl with the t2se want to chime in with your opinion, and,or, experience using this mode, good, bad, or indifferent, that would be great. It's all good food for thought.
Thanks fellows, good luck on the next hole
Bill from Va.

Nice finds, especially the hotchkiss shell. How deep was it? Were you using the stock coil? I've been using the NEL Hunter coil and hunt in the all metal mode and have dug mini balls at 14". I may experiment using the cl mode to see if it may get a little more depth if I hunt a little slower, maybe get lucky and find a deep shell or plate. Plenty of rifle pits and trenches where I hunt.

Thanks Hanover. The shell was a little past elbow deep in the front wall of what's left of a Confederate fort. I'm still using the stock 11" coil. Hope to have a larger one by fall. Just can't decide on which one to get. You ought to try cl sometime, especially with that Hunter coil. I know it's the deeper of the discrimate modes, but I can't honestly say that any of these targets were deeper than what I've been finding in bp and 2+ at these 3 spots. And I don't think the t2 missed these targets. I think I just missed hearing them. CL mode seems to bring those small fast blips out in the open. It seems to make an 8" target sound like a 5" one, and so on. You do have to slow down a bit to take advantage of what this mode can do. It does awesome in iron trash as long as you slow down your swing speed. CL is certainly not the cure all in every situation. But it sure is a valuable bit of ordnance in the t2's arsenal.
Thanks again Pal,
Bill

You're welcome Bill. I may look into the Attack coil also. Thanks for the info and I will give it a try. Good luck hunting. Robert
