T2SE/Sharpshooter Coil Nails Spanish 1/2 Reale - Talk About DEEP!:teknetics:

Today I decided to try for some old silver coins instead of searching for gold jewelry at modern sports fields. I went to an old park early this morning to see what I could find. Right off I bumped into to Jim (JimTN). We were thinking the same.:) I set up with 3 tones, 10 on the discrimination, and 99 on the sensitivity. That setting was super quiet. It didn't take long. I got a weak high tone ping. I circled the target and got another high tone ping. The VDI was flashing every once in while in the mid seventies. I decided to check the target in boost mode. I got a 78 and a little low 80's flash on the VDI. When I pinpointed it displayed 10 inches. I dug down a little over 7 inches and popped a Spanish 1/2 Reale. It's not as big around as a dime and is half as thick. This new NEL Sharpshooter coil is a humdinger.

Great find, Gerald. It was neat to be around when you dug that piece. Never saw one fresh out of the hole before. No date, I guess? As thin as it is, it well traveled. HH jim tn

Gerald, that is one awesome find and a coin I never thought would come out of that park. Quite impressive to say the least. Congrats!

Congrads on the spanish 1/2 Tab. I intend on getting one of those sharp shooter coils for my Etek pro.

I think if I were you that T2 would move up to my #1 go to detector............ Nice Job !!!!

Awesome find. I'm thinking about getting one of those coils. That's the NEL coil right? You think it is alot better than the 5"coil? I really like the small coil. I saw these for good price on ebay, but was worried about fakes. Where did you buy yours? Sorry about all the questions. I'm just another happy T2 user.

I was just reading your other thread and saw the link to the dealer. That is a great price.

Gerald that is a great find , and from the looks of your pro pointer was a solid 7" deep how was that missed . what an amaze and surprise to find a coin that old

The 5 inch coil has its place in areas that are super trashy. The Sharpshooter works almost as well but you can cover large areas with it easier.

I really like this coil a lot. Especially the extra heavy duty coil cable to help with reducing EMI. It's a well built coil. Also it's great for getting into tight places.

If you talk to the owner he might give you a forum member discount off that all ready great sales price. http://golddiggermetaldetectors.com/nelcoils_sharpshooter.php

Thanks Tabman. I appreciate the info.

Ok first x-lent find today and also on the last 2 outings. I was looking to get the T-2se/ltd a while ago for relic hunting instead i bought the AT-Gold. Although the AT-Gold is a great machine i still kick myself for not gettting the T-2se/ltd because i already had the AT-Pro . I know it doesn't matter what detector you use but getting your detector over the target will help. But i can see a lot of detectors missing that target at that depth with that size of target even harder with iron mixed in. But with that NEL coil i think it may have helped a bit , not sure. But i am still interested in a T-2se/ltd and will get one of those NEL coil to go w/it. Thanks for posting. GS

MAAANNNN! Could be a drop from one of DeSoto's boys as they were making their run through there!:surprised: Really cool find there Tab!:clapping:

Nice dig! I found my first half reale a couple a months ago in my back yard. Yours is in a little better shape overall but I could pull a date off mine 1776. Got to love this hobby!

Nice! That just reaffirms to me that the T2 is the detector for me. That much depth out of a sharpshooter. I'm almost in disbelief.

CAn you elaborate about what the "boost" mode is? Thanks--BAC

It's a mode that's designed to go deeper. Maybe a couple of extra inches. The boost mode has a slower recovery speed. I think that's part of the reason it ID's deeper. You have to sweep the coil slower when using the boost mode, because of the slower recovery speed. I don't search much in the boost mode because of that and there's only 2 tones, but I do use it to help ID deeper targets.

How do you engage it?

By strolling through the menu and selecting it. I wish they had designed an easier way to get to it. Although it only takes a couple of seconds to get to boost mode now.

I figured out a fast way to get from 'boost mode' to regular mode, just push the red button and hold. I think it should be the other way around.:)
