TAB READING Thick Necklace I:E Chain ?

Woodchuck

New member
When out for about 2 hrs this afternoon with Cointrax II. Picked up this detector recently, came withe the 3 coils.Had traded my AT Pro for it.Anyhow had tried the 8" and 5" coil on it.So decided I would try the !0" coil on it and try ring mode on it.I had been trying it with coin mode. When to local park thai I have hit hard, with all kinds detectors, last few outings nothing show for.So I was out in the baseball field/soccer field and everything else used for.Just walking around listening to audio and watching the LEDS, hit a good signal ,lit up the tab LED,moved coil over signal it wasn;t in just one spot..I thought to my self long trash junk.Wasn't going to dig it. Moved coil back on it. Solid audio and tab reading xing it. Oh well might as well dig I dug the plug some links showed, i'm thinking dog chain.Dig longer plug and gentle pull up chain, grass in lings being carefull not break it. I see a lobster claw clasp, pull chain out its intact , doing the happy dance now. So my question is what metal is it is it silver? it looks shiny but if its silver wouldn't there be some lknd of patina or aging? Anybody know what a tab reading metal is ?.it is nicely built links that are thick , about 19 and half inchs long. Will try post picture later

hey woodchuck! one of my mentors is a master jeweler, and pro hunter detectorist. stainless steel chains are popular, as well as tri-color gold. a lot of the permanent plated stuff they do in the dept stores, the soap box sales people, you get a ticket and someone gets a piece of it after the sales spill. that is plated copper, so nice signal. i found a stainless class ring that rattled my headphones. its silver looking, i thought it was white gold, naw its non pawn junk! so is palladium. there is titanium too, found one of those, rang in nice and strong. theyre making them affordable but not scrapable. if it is stolen, ya aint got nothing! but they are sturdy and nice looking. all my non gold and silver came in loud, i dont have meters, but solid hits. what i am impressed with is it was an elongated target you found. i just demonstrated to a newbie with a whites set sky high how he was missing gold rings. good find regardless. if can post pic. lay it out like it come up. been reading how compadre's are hitting chains, learning to set my machine more efficiently for that. now my machine will hit a copper wire, and miss a chain... go figure.

Its not stainless I tried a magnet on it,and it dosen't look plated hmmmm...... I will try get a picture up cross your fingers LOL
