Take time, swing very slow

I have read repeatedly that with the SE Pro, it should be swung slow. I am taking Bryce's advice religiously and not messing with the factory settings until I have somewhere between 5 - 10 full hunts under my belt. I understand the reasoning for this, this machine speaks a different language that I must learn.

My question is, can someone please define "slow" that is relative to time & distance? And what would constitute a fast swing, again in time & distance please?

I am very new to this forum, and I wish to thank Bryce personally, and everyone for that matter, that shares their knowledge, their finds & stories, and your humor. Thank you. Chris
 
Four seconds for one full sweep left to right. After using a Garrett last year this is a true test for me.

A full 4 seconds from left to right. Wow!!! My thinking of what "slow" was, was not even close.

Hey grover --

Here's an analogy that someone here recently posted, which gave a nice "word picture" in my mind; I am used to swinging another brand of machine which requires fast sweep speeds, so when I swing the SE Pro it's an adjustment. The quote from the forum member (forget who) was like this -- you are now hunting with a "big game" weapon, and on your hunts you need to move real slow and "sneak up" on the silvers you are hunting. I don't know if this helps you any, but that painted a picture in my mind that I can refer to when I'm hunting with the SE, versus my other machines.

The more I think about that, the more sense it makes.

They say we are suppose to get some liquid sunshine here in California today, so I am off to swing the SE and Listen and go slow. Chris
