Tale of 2 rings

This ring I dug about 2 weeks ago has a gold like finish but not solid. But in the band is this stamp - no other stampings. I acid tested it and found it to be non gold. But I wondered about the stamp - would someone stamp it to sell it even though it's not big & chunky ? Seems like a waste of time for a skinny item. Even though it's dark and junky looking I have dug a few solid gold rings in the past that looked just like this but cleaned up nicely.

Today I took it to the jeweler that I do business with, they inspected it and said it's bogus. So beware out there. Another item to add to my growing "bogus gold" display.

Also, while at the jewelers I asked what my gold ring I dug yesterday was worth. They said $50.00 so that made me happy. Steve in so az

I guess there are cheaters in a business of one kind or another! Congrats on the $50 gold ring with the Ruby! Always nice to find something that is worth going :detecting: for! ;) :) May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

That is an old ring. I found one today marked 18K. That type of stamp is very old and back then they could mark them as gold when they were plated,.
