Talk about getting wet.... (long)

<b>no, I didn't fall into the lake. In fact, I didn't even go detecting but did have a handheld device that had a long shaft on it. Give up?
I spent most of the afternoon yesterday power washing the ceiling, walls and floors of our new church building - getting it prepped to be painted.

I didn't think power washers were supposed to leak as much as this one did. Holding the wand up in the air to do the ceiling or wall I had water just running down my arm and down one pant leg til that side was soaked...then switched hands because my arm was tired so repeated the drenching of the other side of me.

I have to admit we had gotten so much done there in the past week and even yesterday alone amazes me and others. Using our combined brain power and experiences made some difficult jobs that looked impossible seemed like childs play. And, truth be told...it was child's play...God's children being helped by our Father made it more play than work. This is one example of how over the years everyone has different experiences, difficult situations and so on and that knowledge combined with the experiences, difficulties, etc. of others joined together to make light work of things. And Jesus was in our midst.

Here is an example. How does one move one of those huge industrial power circuit breaker boxes that are about as wide as a pick up truck bed and taller than a man and a half in height and weighs....who knows??? Took 3 men just to slide it a few inches. How to move it out of the building??? Certainly sliding it inch by inch was not going to be a feasible option.

Well, I guess I don't have a picture of this monster right now so you can appreciate what I am talking about. You would be impressed at how big this thing is. Anyway, long story short we moved it by putting it into the bed of a pickup truck by taking the truck to it, backing up to the monster and leaning it back til it was half on the floor and half on the truck. Now there is no way us 3 were going to lift this monstrousity up a few inches let along feet.

So now what? Drive the truck back towards it, letting the wall push against the bottom until the top is far enough into the bed that the weight shifts and it falls into the bed. Worked like a champ

Then we drove it outside to where we wanted it and was able to slide it off the truck easier than it went on. I'll have to get a picture of that later so you can see what an undertaking that would have been had God not let us, through our experiences and difficulties gain knowledge.

Hey, I took down a wall by myself between an office and a small entrance way. Entranceway served no real purpose and best it could be used for is a coat closet. I was able to salvage most of the drywall and the 2 x 4 boards only because of experiences God gave me over the years. Tore down several garages when I was a kid and most recently helped when we built a wall in the garage so Sherry would have a place for her business. So I knew how a wall goes up and comes down. Also having worked with electrical - bringing houses up to code with my brother-in-law gave me the knowledge to remove the electrical outlet without lighting up my life.

There is so much more to tell but it would be long. The short story is that God gives us different situations in our lives. Some we will love, others we will hate but all in all we gain knowledge. Maybe the knowledge is to be used right away or maybe years later only God knows when you will have need of it. God is great all the time and all the time God is great. His wisdom is much more than ours could ever be.

So that is a long way of saying I got wet but didn't go detecting. But still had a great time anyway. Thank you Father. Thank you Jesus and thank you Holy Spirit.</b>

Gonna get wet again this Sunday...we are gathering at the Muskegon River up here and baptizing new Christians and also doing re-dedications for those who wish. I want to be re-dedicated and also will be helping the Pastor with the new Brothers and Sisters in Christ....and looking forward to the pig roast as well. Love good food and good company. (Gonna sneak the detector in the vehicle...its a small but old park and may have some hidden treasures.

Not sure what the pilings in the river used to be a part of but sure looks like a lot of potential for some old stuff.

Another sad thing...sold the one water detector and the one I do have has the broken lower shaft...maybe I should try the ACE 250 since most of the river isn't very deep. If I lose a detector in the water I'd rather it be the 250 not the Exp II.

Hey, does the company that owns the canoe launching site actually own the riverbottom? If I remember MI Riparian Law, lake- and river-bottoms are public. As long as you don't step onto dry land, you should be fine. You may want to ask a cop, game ranger, etc., on this.

Q. = By washing the interior - wont it take forever up there in humid country to dry - so it can accept the paint ?

Also, another way to move big/heavy things is to put a bunch of scrap PVC pipes under it and it will roll right along. Steve in so az

I think you are right that rivers cannot be owned - same as the lakes only dirt can be owned. Of course, the State Archeologist is responsible for ALL the dirt of Michigan...even that which is under water and even if you own it the State can take it from you if it feels so inclined. Since the SA cannot be everywhere he makes it the responsibility of Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to protect it and enforce laws concerning it.

Was recently told by a reliable source that if pulled over by the State Police and they ask to search your vehicle, you say No way they just hold you were you sit until a DNR Officer can get there...under State law - again the dirt protector - has a right to check your vehicle anywhere and anytime in this State because you are on Michigan dirt...not just a public highway but anywhere.

LOL I was told by the same person that the DNR is the "Michigan Gestapo". I talked with the guy about our elustrious State Archeologist and metal detecting, etc. So I guess in his thinking if DNR is the Gestapo then the SA has to be Das Fehuer of Michigan. Even the Governor has less say about dirt than the SA does.

but we didn't have any PVC and it would have been even harder to stand it back upright...but ya proved a point we all have different ideas and some work better than others.

Hmmm....we had fans circulating the air inside and the floor was drying up pretty good. Would hope it all dries because we don't need the dampness creating mold and causing another problem.

they already put out the word the paint is in abundance so come paint. I haven't been there today so don't know the score.

I needed a break so I stayed home - and did honey-do projects....vacuuming screens - we can see outside again...still don't see any rain though...did see the neighbor put out a FREE sign and a milk crate loaded with tomatoes, peppers and a head of cabbage. Got first pick I think...some still out there.

Those pilings looked like the remnants of an old foot bridge; or maybe a dock for launching canoes?. As far as the launch site, they may own the land, but the don't own the water... What I've learned is that if it's navigable by boat, you're not trespassing. In other words, the can't stop someone from riding by in a canoe. (or metal detecting with waders ) You should look into that

I wasn't worried so much about the paint drying as I was with mold growth since there is very little daylight entering the large areas we washed down. We left fans blowing to help dry up the water but think the dehumidifiers will help even more. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. The Pastor was informed and he said he too had given some thought to that so got the dehumidifiers.
