Targets that safari detects?

Question,... is it just me or does the safari pick up on targets better in the ferrous modes of relic and all metal? I have gotten response signals in the high 30's range in all metal or relic and then swap to coin mode and not get a sound on a perfectly good coin. I know this because I have dug them after reverifying in relic mode. Could it be the safari reaches deeper in those modes? These coins that have done this do ring up on the machine in coin mode after I have removed a few inches of dirt. What's going on??? Any ideas???

I prefer relic mode myself for all hunting, once I got used to listening to many different types of targets. All metal is just too wide open for me in parks, and schools, but in relatively clean fields, I'll use all metal for buttons, coins, and farm equipment.

Hi TN It is widely agreed upon that when you disc out you loose a little in depth and perhaps sensitivity. The more you disc out the more you loose. So it would stand to reason that if you are in coin or coin and jewelry, you might loose some Safari action. In fact your findings may have just proved this notion. For this reason, I always use relic mode or even all metal. Also coin mode could block out some goodies! Hope this helps. Also, even though I might not dig everything in certain areas, I like hearing what is down there, and it's not so bad to just sniff through it.
