Teamwork Wth The 6" Digger Coil

About two weeks ago just after getting my new Digger coil I blew something out in my right shoulder and arm. I think it started from when I was stopped at a stop light and I reached to pick something up off of the backseat of my SUV and over extended myself and pulled something. After 4 or 5 trips to the chiropractor I'm seeing a slight improvement but everyone tells me it's going to be a while before I'm 100%.

Today I was sitiing around with my Mom who has been itching to get out detecting being that I've been jammed up and haven't been able to go. I jokingly said that I thought there was still stuff to be found in their backyard. She said "let's see what we can find with your new coil". She likes to hunt in 4 tone so I made a quick adjustment and off we went. Both her and I along with Hotrod53 have been over their yard numerous times over the past 30 years.

I'm just a little further along with the 705 and although she's been doing pretty well lately I thought this would be a good time to follow along with her and make my suggestions as to why or why not dig a target. After about 30 minutes we ended up running across our first coin, a 1990 memorial penny. She was manning the detector and I was pretty much listening and watching the target id and if she would run across something that she thought was dig-able I would grab the detector awkwardly with my left arm and swipe over the target and give my opinion. A short time after finding the 1990 penny we pulled up a wheat, then another wheat, then an old token and a buffalo nickel in the same hole, then another wheat. All total, 9 coins and an old token. The newest coin was the first penny, the 1990 memorial but every coin after that except for one other penny were all from the silver era although we didn't find any silver. We are kind of stumped as to why the buffalo and the token from the 60's were in the same hole.

I'm really impressed with the Digger coil because we have spent a decent amount of time in their yard and the surrounding area and I know I've been over the areas where we found the coins many times with my 10.5" coils and my 6" HF coil. Of course it's hard to cover an area really well with a 6" coil so I expect that we will try this again sometime soon.

Our finds for the two hours that we spent were:

1990 memorial
1969 memorial
1964 memorial
1960D memorial
1953 wheat
1944 wheat
1940 wheat
1946 nickel
Unknown buffalo nickel
1962 Look Magazine 25th Annaversary Token

:clapping: Great joint effort!
Just goes to show...again....buy a new coil, and renew your old sites.

 my mom went with me a little when she was alive...she wanted to dig everything...lol..even though I assured her it was probably junk she just couldn`t stand not knowing what it was

I know what you mean......but I will say that there have been a few occasions where my Mom's eagerness to find something has probably caused her to dig a signal that I may not have which resulted in a couple of nice rings. Two years in a row now she's cashed enough gold in to cover a little more than half the price of a new 705 so her detector has paid for itself all ready.

Went back to the area where we found most of the coins last night and in 45 minutes we had 3 more wheats and an older memorial.

1936 Wheat
1942 Wheat
1953D Wheat
1962D Memorial

They were pretty close to where some of the other coins were and they were all 4-5" deep. None of them were gimme signals. You could hear that the good signal was predominate but there were some other shifty numbers mixed in. What made us dig them was for the most part the good signals hung in when swiping over the target even though there was other ID's chiming in.

Nice finds . I have got to get me one of those coils.
