Tejon delay

WV62

Well-known member
I was out in my yard testing the Tejon and noticed that there is a 2 or 3 second delay on somewhat deep targets when switching from disc one to disc two and going back from 2 to 1.
On targets close to the coil the switch is pretty much instant.
Example:
I set disc 1 just below a nickel and disc 2 was just above a nickel, with the coil just 2 or 3 inches above the nickel and I switched from disc 1 to 2 and the nickel was gone instantly. Then I raise the coil up several more inches and the nickel was there in disc 1 and I made the switch to disc 2 and made 3 to 4 passes over the nickel and it was still there and then I would get a little crackle and then the nickel was gone. Then the same thing going back to disc 1, the nickel was gone for 3 or 4 swings before it hit the nickel.

It does take a few sweeps after the trigger is pulled to have the discrimination level settle to the setting on the second disc. I also found that in thumbing the discriminator on the Cibola, that it was easy to thumb the discrimination level faster than the circuit responded as the target was swept. I did not feel it was a big problem, just a design parameter to allow for as a user of the tool.
