Tejon users Clarification

OK guys here is what I understand may be true. Tejon is supposed to be deep because it has Manual ground balance and is a complete beep and dig.

Tejon can be used just like a Notch Detector finding coins because you can set Descrimination 1 below Nickle level and hunt just like normal. Upon picking up a Pull Tab the Detector will sound. Then you simply set Descrimination 2 to just above Pull tabs (Cherry Pick level). After pulling the trigger for Descriminate 2, the pull tab will not give a sound but a good Coin will.

Then you hit the trigger again to activate a real Pin point mode.

Tejon will not accept regular Umax coils.

Is all this correct?

You are pretty much correct, but pull tabs are not so black and white, a lot will come in real close to nickels. But this is true with most detectors not just the Tejon. The other thing is pin pointing, I only use the this mode for the hard to PP ones. Most of the time it will PP really good in the disc mode, in fact I think its better, because in all metal sometimes you will get pulled off your target to a nearby trash target.

I normally run a Cortez and a Golden SaberII and the small figure 8 tabs are really close to Nickels. I can filter them pretty easy on the Cortez but they are difficult on the Golden Saber.

I keep hearing how deep the Tejon is compared to my current detectors.

daddyfley,

I took the Tejon over to my brothers 2 year old test garden and hit everything right up to and including the 8" deep coins. Even hit his IH penny at 8" in the ground.

So far I haven't used the Tejon for coins, I use it for jewelry hunting so I don't use the second disc at all. I run the main disc just above small foil and dig everything.

Place disc. 1 at just below nickels. Place disc 2 at the point where a pulltab BREAKS UP. Now, whenever you hit a target with disc 1, trigger to disc 2 and
(l) If it goes silent, it's in the nickel range
(2) If it breaks up, it's in the tab range, and
(3) if it still gives a signal, it's in the coin range.
Now, you will be closer to a true notch machine.
