Tek Gamma 6000 - Bounty Hunter Platinum. Same detector?

KurtB

Member
I know looks can be deceiving with detectors. Other than having different stock coils are they comparable in performance? I bought a Discovery 3000 awhile back thinking it would be the same as the Fisher F4 and boy was I wrong. The recovery speed of the F4 was much faster. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Kurt

Hi Kurt, I was thinking about trying the Platinum myself when I get the $$$ but was told that since I usually don't keep a detector very long it might not be in my best interest as it would depreciate quite fast being a Bounty Hunter (no offense meant to B.H. or to the folks that use them). I have read (and you can to over at the Bounty Hunter side of the Findmall forums) that the Platinum and the Gamma perform similar, there is a few threads over there about the Platinum. Steve.

The Platinum is a darn good machine. It hits silver very deep and it runs very similar to the Delta, Gamma and Omega. It also has a very fast response rate. For the price they are selling on E-bay at $299 it is an excellent bargain. It has the handle assembly of the Omega which is also a plus and it is every bit as deep as my Fisher CZ6a on coin size targets. It is light as a feather. The only minus is that it is a battery hog.

HH,

Shane

Different search coils and different rod designs (the Platinum uses the Teknetics Omega rod system), but they do look similar .... to a point.

I haven't used a Platinum but I have seen one. Yes, it looks similar to the Tek.Gamma 6000, except for three things:

1.. The one I saw only had the small miniature headphone jack, not the 'standard'
