First took Joan to Kmart to shop.(Her idea ladies). Went to the city park and hit some spots that I hit last year with the 250. Found some Lincolns, no wheats, and two 'Rosies. Also found a part of an old saw blade, which probably had been there for many years, from when they cleared the area to make the park. After picking Joan up at Kmart, I stopped by a house that a lady we went to church with, who died a couple of months ago, lived in. One of her daughters gave me permission to hunt it. Did a short hunt in the backyard. Found and old door knob, and some misc. Was about to go to the truck, when I get a good signal showing something 50cent+. I dug down about 5 inches or so, and there lays a ladies compact, about like the one I found in our backyard last year, only larger. It has a ingraved rose design on the middle of the lid and ingraved roses around the lid rim. On the reverse it says "Luxor" and down at the bottom it says "Armour and Company"
Chicago
Made in USA

Any info on the compact would be appreciated. Good hunt for the day, with the weather here in Connersville around 50.

My research shows most of them compacts are from the 40 - 50's. I did see one mention of Luxor back to the 20's. I have found several compacts over the years, and most seem to be from the 40's and 50's.
Neat find congrats!

Mike, I did some research on Armour and Company, and I guess they did alot with the leftovers from pigs. Don't know if they made rouge out of it or not, but with Armour and Company on the case, I figure Luxor was some kind of brand name or something. All I could find too was up to 1959, but saw nothing so far that looks like the ones I have found. It is in fairly good shape, with just a little cororison on it. If you find out more or can direct me to a good website, let me know. Thanks for your imput.

Congrats DK....your finds look good and glad you got out with the weather warmer and finding the goodies with your new detector! May God Bless you to keep on, keepin' on with faith in Jesus and being blessed in being able to hunt and. hopefully, you do find lots of really nice coins & etc. Amen! Ma Betty

Hey Mr. 'D'..., Not bad for your first time out with the Tek 4. I'm interested in your future finds with that little 'lady'.

Martin, I will keep you updated on the progress. There are some things I don't like so far, but it may take me some time to get it worked out. Had some missed signals yesterday. Had one that showed a dime size, but turned out to be a piece of iron, which I had notched out. Read a good signal, but just came out different. Thought I maybe had a two signal hole, but nothing else came up after clearing the hole. For the most part it was right on, on target ID. Was running about 8 or 9 sensitivity, with 12 being the highest. The ground had some junk around it, but seemed to skip through it ok. The pinpoint feature works great, just as with the 250. Dug some targets that were right at the posted depth. I did miss some by 1/2 inch or so, but the Propointer picked it up ok. All metal signals were easy to distinguish. A pre 1982 penny comes up under dime, which is normal for the model. As usual, the 5cent and pull tab are all in one notch, which with the 250 are separated, but close. Have not pulled any nickles out with it yet. I will give it another workout this week, if the weather holds.
