Teknetics Cure For Chinese Clones, Counterfeit T2's

at the end of a post. It can't always be in the title as there would be too many copies. Now, I have a less popular name and one fellow went on some forums quite a few years ago, with the name Monte, and was silently zapped or encouraged by others to change his handle. My posting handle has been Monte, my real name, since I bought a computer and got on the Internet in '95 or '96.

It's in my poster handle and it is included at the end of almost every post I ever make, and that has been quite a few on Findmall plus other forums. I like to know who I am responding to and communicating with rather than just a mystery person. The only time I do not use my real name is on a firearms related forum with a lot of current and former law enforcement officers and on that form I use my call-sign from when I was a Chief of Police. Otherwise, I am Monte, and I 'Thank You' Rick, and others, who also identify yourselves.

it was actually £395 for a mk1 T2 with 2 coils ,the now reduced price of £295 is standard machine and coil only .the tiger coil has been sold elsewhere  this to my mind is not a bad second hand price for a ten year + old machine

tut tut mr kempf
i,m not a kiwi ,i,m british ,and have only ever used one username on this forum . i,m guessing you are mistaking me for someone else whos words have annoyed you .
sorry i didnt put a sugar coating on my view of the gf2/fs2 fiasco .
And i actually like ft more than i did two months ago ,they are prepared to play hardball with the chinese which in turn should see a few other older models drop in price from other makers ,competition in the marketplace is good . 1000% mark-up has only ever been good for the sellers.
it seems the classic will be offered here £440.
much cheaper:thumbup:
,but AKA machines are looking more tempting these days
i keep hearing good reports about the sorex pro.
please no mud slinging ,i do respect mr putin ,but that hardly makes me a commie lover.
a good day to you rik

Thanks for the clarification. I was misled by the similarity of your post to others who seem to seek to blame First Texas for the actions of thieves and their enablers. Had I read your post more carefully I would have noticed that you were clearly in the UK.

My mistake. The other guy has a couple of forum names and you had only 7 previous posts.

Oh well.

You do seem to like the GF2 and seem to think that it is OK to buy it since it doesn't carry a label saying T2. You are sadly mistaken. It is an exact copy of a T2, circuit board and stolen ROM software included. Why does it work as good as a T2 - because it is an (illegal) T2.

Somebody named gold finder gc1023 (maybe not you) posted a video test of the GF2 five months ago on YouTube.

http://youtu.be/CIRvnku6qWM

The video's written comments seem to tap dance around the issue of theft of intellectual property. QUOTE "I have no issue with these clones as long as they are clearly labeled Gold Finder or whatever name they choose to use." They go on to say "I do have an issue with identical mirror copies and anyone unscrupulous enough to import them"

It's the same thing. An exact copy of a T2, including the software protected by copyright is contraband, no matter what label you put on it.

When Chinese companies start doing what Bulgarians, Turks, Russians, French and others are doing, namely doing research and engineering and developing metal detectors which can compete with the U.S. and Australian market leaders not only ON build quality but performance (not obtained by making exact pirate copies of circuits and software) then they will indeed be a serious challenge to the marketplace because of their low labor costs.

Would I buy one? Why not, an honest product at an attractive price is always interesting.

well put rick ,on a personal note i have purchased a mars tiger coil as i keep hearing good things about them on the newer t2's .the jury is out on that till it arrives but i will give a unbiased view on whether it improves things or not ,my part of the u.k is noted for mineralised soil and lots of power lines ,both of which can be a nuisance when searching ,hopefully this coil will help to alleviate both ,
during my six year break from detecting things have certainly changed there seems to be after market coils in all shapes sizes and weights for one ,plus all these foreign machines appearing from the former and present soviet bloc ,the makro racer seems to be flavour of the month here but i have seen some disturbing u-tube quality control vids .

my money is with FT i have always been a fan of D.J's machines and will stick with that .

what i really need is a little chinese though ,one that walks behind me ,carries my spade ,digs my holes ,recovers my finds and fills the holes back in behind me .and can also cook a mean chinese take-away to fill my belly at the end of a hard day :super:

I didn't know that Kiwis were such noisy birds. How many forum handles are you going to use.

You really seem to have a fixation about this. Welcome to it.

Your dislike for First Texas is noted. If you ever get to the U.S., I suggest you stop off in El Paso and visit the factory where about 250 people have good jobs building American products. Sorry you don't like that.

P.S. - I,put my name on my posts.

I suggest you get your facts straight & stop trying to be the man -

This had been a mature debate until now as you have apparently let your emotions control your behaviour -

At least we know now First Texas gets their stuff made in China so thanks for sharing

I have read the forum rules and there is NOT a requirement for you to keep the same user-names as you do on other forums so the point the poster is trying to make is redundant -

Finally I have no sympathy for any corporation who gets products made in China and when it turns to custard cry like babies cos the Chinese steal their designs, ideas , products -

Well who would of thought that taking your precious gear to a country that are NOT bound by copyright/Patent laws would be a bad thing? -

I know, lets hand our enemy all of our latest technological designs & see what happens - <<shakes head>>

Yep - its OK - just blame the Chinese PMSL

Darn! How'd'ya figure that one out?

Because you stated in another thread Sir (with respect) that FT get two Bounty Hunters made in China -

I am NOT going to get into debating this any further as I cannot see it being of benefit to any of the parties however I will state this for the benefit of a confused poster - I love ALL FT products - NO I have not tried them all BUT I have tried a few - You yourself sir (Dave J) are a legend in my eyes & the language you teach with your equipment is universal amongst many machines - In my opinion you are the pinnacle of all things detecting -

I loved First Texas that much that when the counterfeit T2's (not GF2) where being offered out of China my work colleague purchased one for testing & I ordered a GF2 - All of this was in an effort to pass on our findings to FT USA however this was stopped when it was stated that any non FT manufactured detectors would be crushed on receipt - We could not afford to be out of pocket that much so we kept our findings to ourselves -

All I can say is the GF2 is NOT the POS many make it out to be & that this outfit > http://metallodetektor.com.ua < appears to have the freedom to sell both authentic and counterfeit detectors at will -

If people see me as disliking FT and loving the Chinese then they are clearly confused -
I like the fact that I can buy a GF2 in NZ for a few hundred dollars & I can get parts for it - Its as simple as that & those of you sitting in the USA who can get it all, have to remember that many of us around the world don't have the luxury of purchasing the latest and greatest, unless we have a distributor alternatives have to be sourced -

Finally I am certainly no expert on any one detector but I have owned the following FT products which IMO does NOT make me hate FT -

2 x F2's
1 x Gold Bug (original)
2 x Delta 4000's
1 x Gold Bug
1 x G2
1 x Discovery 3300
1 x Land Ranger
2 x ETP's
1 x F Pointer

I have been detecting four years this December - I love all things detecting - from engineers to retailers to testers/reviewers to fellow hunters

Thank you all BUT thank you Mr Dave J for everything as well as the ability for someone like me to correspond with a Legend such as yourself - TIA

EScanz

Sorry I didn't point my silly a**ed comment about a Kiwi to the right guy - who, as it turns out is a Brit, not a New Zealander.

I got a bit "enthusiastic" because he seemed to be pushing the narrative that FT was somehow involved with aiding this Ukranian outfit sell counterfeit T2's

Its OK sir (Rick Kempf) -

I am a Kiwi & love US products - Its just kinda hard to get them at times ;)

Cheers

EScanz

Glad you came back. Thanks for the kind words

I hate it when I offend accidently. I am also trying to give up the habit of occasionally offending on purpose! Lol

Hi Sir - No you did not offend me - I look up to you guys that have been in this hobby for so long -

I just like to look at things from outside the usual perspectives from time to time - Please keep up the good work with you informative posts - ;)

Thank you again -
